I needed St. Francis to fill out part of a insurance claim form and send the medical record (which is only one page as my dog was seen once for about 20 minutes but not treated there - I took my dog elsewhere) to my pet insurance company. St. Francis filled out the form but "forgot" to submit the medical history (which is clearly requested on the claim form!)
When I called St. Francis to ask them to send the medical history to the insurance company they told me it would take two more weeks. When I asked why ... since they didn't do it as requested the first time ... they said it was policy and were extremely rude about it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got hung up on.
The insurance company tried calling St. Francis to get the requested info and St. Francis was rude to them too! St. Francis said if they kept receiving calls about it, they'd make it take longer!
But here's the kicker, they decided to close my account *after* I requested the records so they could charge me an "Inactive Account Record Fee" (their words). They called me and asked if I agreed to the charges but refused to say what the charges were. I had no choice because my insurance claim hinged on their records. They knew this and had me over a barrel.
They made me pay $20.88 for one page of hand-written notes. The receipt stated: "Clerical Fee - Inactivated Record".
When I called the WA State Veterinary Board (health department) they told me they were *well* aware of St. Francis as they get tons of complaints. They said the owner is rude and encourages his staff to be rude and put customers through the wringer to get any sort of records and they barely operate within the legal limits.
So file complaints with the BBB and the Washington State Veterinary Board if you've been treated horribly as I have. You can get to their sites online! St. Francis should NOT be in business! -- I am so glad I chose not to have my dog treated there for her illness & regret that I ever stepped foot into that place!

Avoid these vets at all costs. You will most likely not see that same one anyway, as they are basically inexperienced new graduates that leave asap. The front office staff are rude, callous, and should not have contact with human-beings or animals. They almost killed by dog after over $3000 in tests that were not the correct labs for a diagnosis. He was kept for 6 days in the "ICU" and not seen by the vet on duty several times. When I did take him, in much worse shape than at admission, he was soaking wet in his own saliva and had a bladder that was on the verge of rupture. This was verified by the Columbia River emergency, where we took my dog after freeing him from St. Francis. St. Francis staff were verbally abusive when I asked for an explanation of the charges and for the medical records. They refused to release his records to me or to Columbia River, even though it was a matter of life and death. They even attempted to keep my dog if I did not pay the entire bill. Here my dog is on the floor barely able to breath and they are yelling and screaming that I have to pay or they would send me immediately to collections. These are the scariest people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I am a medical professional and am shocked at how this clinic is still in business after realizing the numerous complaints against them with the BBB and Veterinary Board of Governors. My complaints have been added, as well. Also, they did sent me to collects less than 2 weeks after the last incident. My only consolation is that my dog survived St. Francis, when so may have not.

Our 1 year old Great Dane was discharged from St. Francis Emergency Vet Wednesday night only to die in his sleep. I brought him in for a series of x-rays on his hind leg due to his lameness. As with any exam which causes discomfort, the doctor required Augustus to be sedated. On his previous visit (5 weeks earlier) we found his weight to be in the 135 range. Wednesday, he was at 121. I stated my concern about the weight loss and the doctor assured me she would confirm the weight loss. I fear she did not. When I went to get Augustus almost 8 hours after leaving him there, the girl at the desk told me she had gotten Augustus to get out of the kennel but that he would not stand and that she thought he was just being stubborn. I said I would go back and help. Augustus was laying on the ground and barely registered a tail wag for me. They slung his back end up and I helped him at the front. He just barley made it out to the car. I had to entirely lay him in the car. He looked dead to me. When I got him home, I told my husband that I was told to just let Augustus sleep it off. Augustus was displaying breathing stress momentarily as we got him out of the car. We got him comfortable. I seriously considered returning to St. Francis with Gus. We checked hourly. He was dead in the early hours of the morning. What recourse do I have? I think the vet over sedated him. Most importantly, their policy on discharging an animal that is in the sedated condition Augustus was is unacceptable. I have been waiting for 6 days now for his chart records which I requested the night I took Augustus home as we were told he needed to see an orthopedic vet. I will never use them again and am seriously considering standing outside the facility with a sandwich board suggesting customers come and chat with me before bringing their pet to St. Francis 25 Hour Animal Hospital.

Went here as a last resort. That will never happen again. Cat was brought in for a simple bladder infection to get antibiotics prescribed.
Dr's Angela Graupmann's demeanor was condescending and rapid fire speech delivery gave me very little time to comprehend what she was saying. She left the room and never came back. Sent in an assistant? with a $200 plus estimate. I asked the assistant to have the Dr come back in because I had some questions for her. She never did. She just sent in her assistant to ask me what were my questions.
This morning I contacted my regular vet, Feline Medical Clinic, they are outstanding, by the way.
They contacted St Francis to formally request that my cat's chart notes be faxed to them as I was taking her to see her reg. Dr.
They adamantly and rudely refused multiple requests from me and ignored Feline Medical Clinic's request as well. The rudeness came primarily by soemone named Heather and then when i went there in person the other rude individual was Judy.
These people should change the name of their facility from the Patron Saint of Animals, Saint Francis, to a more apt one , like Saint Rude.
On second thought, I wonder if they are current on their rabies shots.

Our 2 year old Mini Schnauzer recently had puppies so we needed to take them to a vet for an exam. We also needed to have their tails docked and their dew claws removed. (The vet actually recommended having the claws removed) We took them to ST. Francis Animal Hospital because they were close to where we live and they did not require an appointment. The vet docked the tails of all 5 puppies but she only removed the dew claws on one puppy and said that the others did not have dew claws. It took us a while to notice that all our puppies did in fact have dew claws. When my wife took the puppies in to find out why they still had their dew claws, she was told that in order to even speak with a vet about why they were not removed, she would have to pay a $35 per puppy exam fee. My wife told them that the dogs do not need to be examined; they just need the dew claws removed which we had already paid for. The vet refused to even come into the room to talk to her unless she was willing to pay him first. My wife decided to leave since it was clear that she would not be able to speak to anyone other than a receptionist. I then went in and asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and I was told that I could not speak to one because there was not anyone there with any authority. I told them that I would be happy to speak with one on the phone. They then asked me to leave or they would call the police! I was shocked when they said that because I had not been yelling or disturbing any other customers. All I wanted was for them to finish doing the job that I had already paid them to do. I did leave and I will never go back to that place. I should have checked out their rating on the Better Business Bureau before I brought my puppies there. THEY HAVE AN “F” RATING WITH THE BBB. My complaint will be the 3rd complaint that they have received in the last 2 weeks! Most of the vets in our area have very good ratings with the BBB but ST. Francis has the worst rating that the BBB gives.

Good: One star only because it wouldn't allow me to give them zero!
Location - less than a mile from my home. Bad: EVERYTHING!! They refused multiple requests via fax, phone, and one in person for copies of my dogs records. They overdosed her on anti-inflamatory meds, leading to gastric ulcers in my dog. They told me she was weak from being overweight when she was actually dehydrated and feverish.. Improvements: Revoke this Dr's license (Michael Baker)! He's been repeatedly disciplined for a variety of reasons but retains his liscense.. Other: For boarding, read about his charging a patient for a pet that wasn't there
If you care for your animals, go ahead and spend a little extra time and money taking them to Dove Lewis or another animal hospital. We ended up spending $3000 to save our dog's life. I wonder how much of that was due to Dr. Baker's incompetence..

St. Francis has been our vet for over two years and we take our numerous animals there. One of our dogs has needed to board very regularly - he was old, bad tempered and probably a royal pain, but the staff bonded with him and truly cared for him. Today we had to have this dog euthanized, and I can only say that I hope every experience I have with tough decisions regarding our animals is handled with such compassion, support and well-placed education on the options available. We choose St. Francis because of their reliability and consistency, and it is hard to fault the way that these guys care about the animals in their care. Don't expect platitudes here - you'll get the truth and sometimes it's hard - but if you want good, honest people then there are much worse places to go. Frankly the customer service for the humans sometimes lacks a bit, but I would much rather have the great service provided to the animals when I visit a vet.

Don't take your animal there. Poor treatment, too expensive, and there are numerous complaints filed against the Vets through the state. The state is not your friend, so don't bother filing a complaint. Go to civil court instead. I checked with BBB after the fact, and they aren't a member.

A couple of months ago I took Zorro, my 6 year old cat, to St. Francis. We had noticed that for a couple of days he was not moving very much. They were suppose to take a full body x-ray- which we thought they did. The vet concluded it was the beginning of arthritis, and had us buy medicine for it. That night, Zorro didn't move at all. When he tried, he would throw himself because his legs were so stiff. The next morning (Thanksgiving) we took him in again as it got progressively worse overnight. A different vet took one look at him and said "It's his neck." We told the vet we had just been in and when he looked at the x-rays he shook his head saying that the vet didn't take the full body like she should have. We put Zorro down immediatly as the vet advised there was nothing that could help.
A couple days later we called wondering if there was any way they could reimburse us for the medicine or the x-ray or even just credit us that amount for our future visits.
They refused. In fact, we got the run around for about a month- and never got a call back.
Never again.
RIP- Zorro :(
