I recommend Marsha Howerton without reservation. I've been associated with this practice for many years, first with Martha Dannenbaum, and now Howerton. I was referred for cervical problems. I like her very, very much. She's been friendly, relaxed and relaxing, very professional, honest, informative, and most of all, gentle. I've had gynos who use a speculum like a plow - not Marsha. I have nothing but praise for her personality, manner, and skill.
However - Martha Cheatwood, ARNP, is another matter. I required a second colposcopy, and was scheduled with her for the procedure. With very little knowledge and less apparent care, Cheatwood took it upon herself to tell me I really didn't need it, the recurrent dysplasia was likely a matter of healing from the LEEP I'd had three months previously, and I should wait another three months for a fifth pap this year.
She was, at best, cavalier about my very legitimate concerns and fears, and irritated by my questions. I will never see her again unless my life is at risk, and then only for basic first aid.
As someone else wrote about this practice: Consistency between the theory of treatment and practice among the treating staff (nurses, doctors, and PA's) would be of great help and alleviate concerns and confusion.

Wow, Wow, Wow!!! I am shocked at the 2 star rating Dr. Howerton received from anonymous. I hope her experience with a new doctor is better. I have never had a bad experience with Dr. Howerton and I have been her patient for 15 years. She has always answered my questions and I have never felt rushed. Yes at times she is late to my appointment but babies can be unpredictable. Give the lady a break, we all have off days!

Good: Making and appointment was easy and I mostly felt like we were able to make appointments that worked with our schedule. The nurses were wonderful and always called me back in a timely manner. If one nurse couldn't fully answer my questions she would get another one to call me and explain in more detail. Getting prescriptions called in was easy as well.. Bad: Dr. Howerton seemed very unpredictable in her moods and how much time she was willing to invest in each appointment from visit to visit. If she was running behind schedule she make me to feel that my question were a nuisance and didn't answer them to my satisfaction. One appointment she was in fact very unprofessional and in my opinion rude. My husband was at the appointment with me and held his tongue but refused to see her again and preferred that I find a new doctor.. Improvements: Professionalism, calmness, concern, and information from the doctor would be a marked improvement from our experience. Consistency between the theory of treatment and practice among the treating staff (nurses, doctors, and PA's) would be of great help and alleviate concerns an confusion trying to determine what you should be doing as a patient in reguard to diet, health and exercise during pregnancy...especially if you are having issues unique to your own pregnancy..

Marsha Howerton is in an elite group. She has a awesome bedside manner and is very knowledgeable about the latest medications and procedures. She has been blessed with the ability to make her patients feel at ease with her. She's easy to talk with and does a tremendous job of explaining procedures, surgeries, birth, etc in easy to understand terminology. She's been my doctor for many years. I will continue to be her patient as long as she's in practice.

Dr. Howerton is an A+ doctor. She has been my doctor for 9 years. I have never felt rushed during an exam. She takes the time to answer my questions or concerns in easy to understand terms. It may take a couple of months to get in for the first time but after your first meeting, you'll be glad you made the appointment. I also like the fact that I can schedule my next yearly exam before I leave the office. If I have a concern and need to be seen, usually I can have an appointment the same day or within the next 24 hours.
I have recommended her to all my female friends. In fact we appreciate her knowledge and understanding so much that we've formed the Dr. Howerton Fan Club.
