This is a small restaurant, with little to no atmosphere and there is always a wait at the door, BUT it's WELL worth the wait! It is a "famous" spot in Trenton for a traditional tomato pie. I recommend getting there early for the shortest wait. Be ready to order when your waiter arrives and enjoy the company of your dining companion while you wait. These pizzas have a very thin crust so I recommend that you order 2 pizzas and ask them to stagger their arrival - they're used to this request. That way you will eat one and the other will arrive hot just in time for you to devour it! You'll love the unique way they slice their pies!

If you're looking for authentic tomato pie, look no further. DeLorenzo's on Hudson Street in Trenton is the place to go -- no matter where you're coming from.
They don't have any trendy toppings -- just the basics. And nothing much else is on the menu. But if you aren't interested in the tomato pie, why are you there?
Don't bother trying to call for reservations, and don't be discouraged if there's a line.... it's worth the wait!

As a native of North Jersey and frequent visitor to NYC moving to central NJ proved to be hard only in one aspect--finding a good pizza! I researched online for a good tomato pie, the kind you will find in the Village or in Brooklyn.
The plain pizza, white pizza, and pizza with extra cheese and meatballs are staples in our home.
Everything about this pizza was great from the sauce to the cheese to the spices. It was served hot. We had root beer with our pizzas and this is all DeLorenzo's serves is pizza and drinks. You can't mess with perfection.
We often call in our orders ahead for pick up. People will stand outside in all different types of weather elements to eat in their dining room on a weekend night. If you are looking for the perfect pizza, either location will serve you up a hot pie in their smallish dining area (or just take it home and enjoy it there!).
