Gym Dandy, Thibodaux's oldest and finest thrift stores has books, a whole wall, plus a large shelf full of books all there for the choosing. Most books are .25 cents and the books range from infant cardboard books, to reader's digest books, to teen books, to books on cd or cassette tapes.
The books are basically separated according to age, but not by title or authors. Most of the books are in great to new condition, but some of the books need a little more loving care than others.

Jakes is a great place to shop. Giant selection of Men's, Women's, and kids. They also have a second location in the Southland mall for the kids stuff. Great values and sales on jeans and the clothing is up to date and the current styles. Also accessories such as jewelery and purses for the ladies. All in all a great place to shop, although the clerks are not the most helpful.

As a child, from infancy on, my shoes always came from GP Musso. The shoe store was opened in the mid 1950's as a shoe store and a shoe repair. The selection is not as wide as the larger stores, nor are they as cheap, but Musso's is the only place in Thibodaux to get the name name brand shoes with excellent service. They only carry dress shoes for men and women, plus slippers for adult women. The kids selection is a little more extensive going from those white high tops for infants and toddlers, to dress shoes, mary janes and athletic shoes.
As far as I know the shoe repair is still open and is the only place in town that I know of that will repair shoes in our tri-parish area.

Tri-textbook rentals in Thibodaux is conviently located within walking distance of Nicholls State University, on Goode St, along side of Thibodaux Elementary School.
Tri-textbook rentals is a great place to check out for prices to rent those college textbooks rather than purchasing them. They rent out books at tri-textbooks for about 1/2 the cost of purchasing new ones.
They don't rent out all books required for classes, i.e. manuals, workbooks, etc that a student would have to write in or refer to for future classes are usually not rented out. Some books used for future references in other classes are rented out but the student would come out ahead just purchasing the book rather than renting it. Example of this would be the Little Brown Handbook for English. This has all the correct punctuations needed for writing papers, correcting papers,etc, so this would be used for at least all five of your required English classes, plus other classes which would require the student to be able to write a correct paper.
Also before a student rents a textbook I recommend they check to see if the bookstore has the book for sale at used cost. Like this, the textbook can be resold at the end of the semester, at least making some money back off of the intial investment where renting the textbook would show no return.
If you are in the Thibodaux area and attending Nicholls State University, I highly recommend checking out Tri-Textbook rentals because compared to the bookstore prices, here you will keep a little money in your pocket.
The books are due to be returned after the final exam for the class. Any book that is not returned you are charged for.

If you can stand the smoke (yeah he is a chain smoker) and the constant yapping of a huge white cokatoo named snowball than bring your computer to get fixed here. He is honest and reliable and may even have a few computers for sale.

This Walgreen is open 24 hours, but they are so much more than a pharmacy. Yes the shelves are very well stocked with the necessities such as cold remedies, pain relievers, and band aids, but Walgreen's is at the next level.
They offer as much of a different line of health items such a soaps, toothpastes, and deodorants as walmart. Granted the items are significantly higher priced than Walmart, but the convience of getting medicine and all your needs at one stop is excellent.
For the Christmas holidays, they are very well stocked with items needed for the holidays. Lights, decorations, and the last minute gifts are here to be found with a wide selection of items.
The photo section has a wide selection of digital cameras and memory discs, as well as regular cameras and film. The photo lab is excellent with service and quality of the items they develop.

Potpourri has been around since I was little and my mom and I shop here every year for gifts. Gifts can be found here for just about everyone for every occassion. From teachers, to grandparents, to nurses, a gift is sure to be found.
The selection is fantastic and the gifts are available in a large array of price ranges so the gift selections fit into everyone's budget.
Parking is only on street, but there is plenty off available.
PROS: great gifts for everyone, huge array of price ranges

We stopped renting from blockbuster in Thibodaux over the summer 2006. I was very unpleased with the fact that the workers are always so very rude, not willing to help us locate our desired tapes or dvds.
Also when Blockbuster offers a mailer highlighting a certain sale or exclusive deal, i.e. rent one get one free, the mailers are not clear on the total deal. By this I mean, I want to know all the details on the mailer, not get to store, after promising to allow the kids to rent a certain # of videos, only not to rent anything because my aggravation level has hit the ceiling because of the way the rude salespeople are treating me and my family.

The dollar tree is the best place to shop for your halloween items. Whether it's decorations, trinkets, candy, drinking cups, pencils, or candy bags, the dollar tree has it. But i do recommend you get there soon as the items are going fast and I don't know that anymore will be ordered.
The candy is not the name brand candy, except for Mary Jane's. The candy is the off brand of candy, so keep that in mind if you will be getting your candy stash here.
At the dollar tree enough treat bags can be done for a class of 20 for under ten bucks and the kids will be more than happy with the selection of items in the bags.
