AWESOME Sushi, good price, they have a bbq menu for fresh vegetables and delicious meats and seafood wwill be grilled on an old fashioned japanese styled bbq served hot. here are some recomenations..... We have been enjoying Kushiyu for over 15 years. Tonight the service and food was far below mediocre. We are so disappointed that our favorite restaurant is no longer the place it once was. The owner was slightly apologetic at our disappointment, but handed us our bill without hesitation. We will not be going back anytime soon. If you do decide to go, please let them know if you are not happy...maybe they will go back to how they used to be.

We have been going to Kushiyu for years and watched it go down the drain recently with a new manager. The last visit put us over the top and we will NEVER return. On Saturday night, 5 of us from 2 households met at Kushiyu. On Sunday, I am throwing up profusely and get a call from the other family asking if I was sick. We realized 3 out of 5 of us were contaminated with bacteria or a virus. And it was the albacore because only us 3 had it. So, we call the restaurant and say we'd appreciate a credit back to our card after this incident. This rude new manager (Shawn?) says - "Bring me the hospital bill and I'll consider it, I have to go now". He did not even bother asking what we ate so he can avoid others getting sick!!! This place has become a madhouse for money and service has gone to hell. I know of several other establishments in the san fernando valley with better sushi nowadays. Needless to say, I will NEVER return to kushiyu again. Hopefully this saves someone money and a lot of anger by avoiding Kushiyu altogether. Meanwhile, I wonder when my next bout of throwing up will be coming :-(

Love to go to this place. We always have to order the albacore sashimi appetizer (with red onions and little jalapeno peppers), salmon tower, and johnny roll (not usually on the menu, but you can still order it -- shrimp tempura roll wrapped with spicy tuna). Kim Basinger was there last time we were, but despite celebrity sightings this restaurant is not pretentious at all.
