With their food, of course! Let me tell you, the pad thai at Thai BBQ is amazing! Wow. It is sweet but not overly so. I also really enjoy their coconut chicken soup because I love sour soups and it is very lemony.

I live in Monterey Park and I'm surrounded by great Chinese food, so I wasn?t expecting much when my friend decided to celebrate his birthday there but Shenwah really blew my socks off. What really impressed me was how clean and light yet well flavored the food was. Most Chinese restaurants you find today are excessively greasy and made from poor quality ingredients to keep cost down. Shenwah was completely the opposite of this. We had a large group, which was awesome cause I got to try a lot of stuff. The walnut shrimp as a light crystal brown and came with a delectable walnut mayonnaise sauce spruced up with some cut carrots and peas. The shrimp egg rolls where fresh, light and crisp accompanied by a sweet and sour sauce and the traditional Chinese yellow mustard. A health portion of filet mignon with peppercorn sauce came centered on a pristine white china platter much like you would find in good French food. It was really good. The House special fried rice came with chicken and shrimp lathered in a rich brown sauce sitting on top of some vegetable fried rice? kind of like how you used to put gravy on your mashed potatoes. One of the guys order the chicken culet which looked really good to but I didn?t get to try it cause it was all gobbled up before it got to me. For the vegetarians, I ordered a plate of the crispy tofu fritters with mixed vegetables, which came in slightly spicy clear sauce. I?ve got a craving for it right now. We topped it off with some combination fried noodles and my favor? the mu shu rolls-the Chinese equivalent of burritos. The skin was a little thick but very fluffy so it went well with the stir fried vegetables, egg and plum sauce. I want to try the salmon in garlic sauce next time but since I live two hours a way it maybe a while before I get back to Shenwah (although I?m sure I?ll be back). Someone go try it for me and let me know how it is.
Pros: Great food, prompt service, nice quite diner spot
Cons: Bit on the pricey side for chinese food but you get what you pay for.

This puts the ice, in ice cream. If you have not tried it, don't as you will become addicted. The choice of flavors is wonderful, the singing staff is great, and the selection of additions....wow! Makes me just want to run out to get some. If you haven't had this ice cream, you definitely want to find your closest Cold Stone!

I came across this place while driving down Ventura. I wasn't expecting anything special. When you walk you are immersed in a piece of Mexican culture. They make great food at unbelievably low prices. It cooks up some great food all cooked by the owner/chef.
Pros: Great Food, Affordable, Always Parking, Air Conditioning
Cons: None

Mort's is right next door to Bea's bakery so you know the bread and baked goods are super fresh. Everything I've ordered at Mort's has been delicious, arrived exactly how I ordered it, and tasted great! I like the breakfasts, the huge sandwiches, the soups, and the pickles. The service is fast, your drink order is taken and delivered to you within 3 minutes of walking in the door. The food comes out of the kitchen really quick too. The waiters and waitresses are nice and they know the large menu inside and out. The restaurant is totally outdated but maybe that's part of the charm. The booths are really close together, only separated by about 6 inches, so you can't help but overhear what the people sitting next to you are saying. All in all, I like Mort's and I eat here about once a month.

This is a local fave of many Valley residents. Many of the diners are greeted by the owners and staff by name, you may even run into a local celeb grabbing a bite to eat. It's only opened for breakfast and lunch until 3pm so give it a try. Great low prices too! Excellent value!
Pros: Excellent value, Staff is upbeat

The name may confuse you, but they actually serve Thai food at the Vegan Factory. Even a meat eater should give this a try. Tucked away in a little shopping center, you might easily pass this cute and clean little restaurant by. I'm happy with the tofu I put in my chow mein, although they have other interesting meat substitutes you can try. The spring rolls are great. I like the fried ones more than the ones rolled in lettuce, even if they are healthier. The luncheon specials let you try different types of Thai food at an even more reasonable price, but they are only served Monday through Friday. The quality of food is very important to me, so I never compromise. There is also other vegan food, such as veggie burgers and soup. A nice, casual place to go and catch up with a friend. By the way, if you have a sweet tooth try the Thai ice tea made with soy milk.
Pros: Good healthy food in a relaxing casual atmosphere.
Cons: Parking.
