The family who owns this dump has obviously forgotten how to maintain a decent resturant. Staff is HORRIBLE! they are rude and slow and talk down to you if you dont know how to pronounce a dish. THE PLACE IS FILTHY!! THERE WAS A COCKAROACH CRAWLIING ON MY TABLE!!!
I would never recommend this horribly dirty "resturant" to ANYONE!
the food was cold, the staff was rude, over priced and the place is not up to par by any means.
Pros: decent atmosphere
Cons: slow service, cold food, stale chips, horrible mexican food.

I have been a loyal guadalajara costumer since day one and I can honestly say I have never had a bad experince here. :) When you first walk in your are greeted by either a beautiful young lady named judy or a handsome young man named andrew(the owners children) who make you feel right at home. After you are sat down you can't help, but notice the great ambiance of the place!!!!! There is a gorgeous fountain in the main room that flows water and makes your dinner relaxing, two stain glass aztec calanders on the roof of the two sections, and the people of different nationality laughing and enjoying their cuisine. Attending to your every need are a great staff who always have smiles on their faces. As you wait for the food you eat tasty chips and salsa that has the right amount of spices to give you that kick you need. :) When the food arrives you are able to enjoy the delicious taste with every bite you take and when your done you are left satisfied, but wishing you could do it over just to eat again! haha This place is the best mexican restaurant in the tampa bay area. Every time I go I love it more and everytime I leave I can't wait to come back again.
Pros: Enivorment, service, prices, food etc.
Cons: There are none!

I ordered a large chicken burrito and received something stuffed with maybe two little pieces of chicken and a ton of peppers & onions. I did not eat this. I asked for a replacement which was ok, but the hostess accused me of eating both and charged me for both! I told her I am never coming back to her establishment again, and she said that was fine with her! She was rude and nasty, and I will take my business elsewhere. I eat out everyday and have taken business clients here many times in the past, but NEVER AGAIN!
Pros: Food good in the past
Cons: Nasty Manager (or owner?)

I would have to disagree with Yucko the clown there; I have been a customer for over 10 years and can honestly say that the food is absolutely magnificent. Anyone that cant deficient an authentic Mexican restaurant to what is a so-called Tex-Mex restaurant must be put down of there insanity!!!! If someone bases there opinion because of some salsa and the color of rice then you obviously have no comprehension of different cooking styles of Mexico cuisine. That's what makes Mexican food so unique no matter what part of Mexico your in you will never ever find that same dish prepared the same. So to Yucks you are what I'd like to call an incompetent idiot!!!!

I have to disagree with the people on this page that say Guadalajara Mexican Res is anything but the best MEXICAN FOOD... I come from a long line of Mexican heritage, & I can easily say YES YES YES & YES to the food here.. The people who say they didn't enjoy it, were probably the people who couldn't afford it & couldn't get out of a free meal. The staff are very friendly the service can be fast on certain days, If you are on a short lunch break to don't think to come after 1 and expect the meal to come out in ten minutes, every body who KNOWS FRESH Mexican food KNOWS it takes a while to cook so if your in hurry go to Wendy's or Mickey D's... The atmosphere is very welcoming & clean. If someone says that they got sick here Its probably because they are not used to real Mexican food! I come in there for lunch twice a week with a group of co-workers & they would all have to agree with me when it comes to good Mexican. Guadalajara takes the cake!
P.S. The menu given on this web site is not correct.... I learned my mistake ordering the Brenda burrito
Pros: Large enough to fit groups, great for kids, fountain to entertain yourselves, & clean restrooms
Cons: they run out on horchata a lot & no Marachi bands =(

I have been eating Hispanic food in the Tampa Bay area for over 30 years. I have been to Mexico, several Latin American countries and Spain. The Guadalajara has the best Mexican food in the Tampa Bay area without exception. The food is at the level of delicious "home-made" meals. The menu is well rounded and complete including Coca-Cola imported from Mexico. A charming atmosphere with a bubbling fountain and lots of colorful tile. Courteous and efficient service. Close to Tampa International Airport and with plenty of parking, this is a Mexican restaurant where Mexican's come to eat. Muy Excellente! Muy Rico!
Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
Cons: None

Being born in San Antonio, Texas and of Cajun parents, with a great uncle who was a Mexican and lived in Baton Rouge, it is just a tradition to eat good Mexican cuisine. How many times I remember eating at my uncle's home on a hot sunday afternoon in Baton Rouge and having homemade tamales, and a snowcone afterwards from his little business stand in front of his home along the road. Those fond memories have been renewed with my first and not my last to the Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant. I met with the owner, Sol, and his family. They were gracious, courteous, and his staff was attentative to all our needs. And the food was authentic, freshly prepared from scratch, and simply delicious. I had the combination platter plus an extra tamale so i could have a little taste of everything. my wife had the chicken flauntas which she said was better than all the other restaurants we have been in. after our meal, I gave Sol a big hug and kiss on the cheek and said this was from my uncle Joe, "I am sure he guided me to your restaurant to meet you." I said to him. Uncle Joe has passed for many years now but his grandson has opened a restaurant in Baton Rouge, and I hope to visit it when I am up there for a visit again. but in the meantime, I will be eating at the Guadalajara for my Mexican meals. Viva Mexicana and Senior Sol and his family.
merci et gracias,
cajunsr.
Pros: parking is excellent esp. the handicapped which i used.
