Today my husband and I wanted an Indian meal so checked out what was available. This one is very close to Busch Gardens, so after visiting for a couple of hours we stopped off on E. Fowler Avenue. It is opposite University Square Mall, in the shopping plaza, between Sonic and Vision Works.
We were seated immediately and asked if we wanted the buffet. We walked over and checked it out. Chicken curry was there so we said 'Yes'.
Water and extra napkins were brought to our table. I went and got a little salad to start with. Then a plate of Channa Dal (corn), Aloo Bhaigon (potatoes and egg plant),Veg Jalfrezi (mixed veggies), Palak Paneer (spinach & cottage cheese), Palak Pakoras (fritters which were very dry), chicken curry (with bones in it), Tandoori chicken, and naan bread.
Most of the food was good, however the Veg Jalfrezi was so hot it literally took my breathe away. My eyes watered, nose ran, and I couldn't talk. It took half a glass of water to stop the burning feeling. The curry sauce was very good but the chicken was cheap cuts with bones in it.
I finished with water melon from the salad bar and their rice pudding. The rice was still hard and the taste wasn't to my liking.
The waiter came back to check on us on a regular basis. I have to say that the lunch buffet at $7.99 is a good deal. Just be very careful what you try if you are not used to Indian food. I cook curry all the time as my husband and I missed it so much after leaving England.
We had 3 wonderful Indian meals in California which I will write about.
Angithi Indian Restaurant is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. On a Monday night they have a buffet too.

Angithi is currently my favorite of Tampa’s choices for Indian cuisine. Nothing too fancy, but expect high quality food for a fair price. The meals are richly spiced and delicious. They excel with vegetarian and chicken entrees. The palak paneer is amazing—hot, creamy, and lots of tender pieces of paneer (homemade cheese made with whole milk). Expect large portions and fresh ingredients from Angithi.
It’s not just the entrees that are so good, but all the little items you may take for granted. Chutneys, nans, papadams, rices—they all meet my highest expectations. Honestly the only complaint I’ve ever had there was some slightly dry chicken tikka. On future visits the chicken tikka was wonderful. I often order take-out meals from Angithi and the quality is just as good when I get it home.
The service is outstanding—and that’s a rare thing for me to say about any restaurant nowadays. The friendly and efficient staff adds to the overall experience.

You can't have the cake and eat it too. It applies to good food and good service at Indian restaurants. The service at Angithi is great since the owners are usually in the premises. However the food is middling. If, however, one isn't a connoisseur of Indian cuisine the food may just work for you.
The buffet has a decent variety that keeps changing once in a while- an oddity in most of the Indian places.
