As a home cooking hobbyist, I'm always on the lookout for those neat gadgets that make life easier for chefs. Bed Bath and Beyond keeps me supplied in the usual stuff, but sometimes you really have to hunt for quality. My quest for kitchen tools led me to Brown's Home Kitchen Center, near the Discount Auto Parts and the Skate World on Capital Circle. I was able to find a lot of the fancy equipment that cullinary experts recommend and use on their tv shows....but the prices were even more fancy than the items themselves. I've been to a few restaurant supply stores in Atlanta and Jacksonville, and items that were identical were at least 25% more at Brown's than other stores and 30% more than online stores. I think the problem here is that Brown's is not fully in the restaurant supply business, but more in the kitchen consulting business for newly built homes or rennovations. While they do have a few racks of good commercial kitchen supplies, the bulk of their store is geared towards luxury kitchenware. Because of this, the rest of the inventory is just there to create traffic, and rarely gets evaluated for price worthiness.
My recommendation: if you're a home cook and you know market values of appliances, cook/bakeware, and gadgets.....take a look, you might find what you need at a decent price. If you don't know market values, you're bound to get ripped off.

I attended FAMU from 1997-2002. The journalism program at this university is "World Class." Just this year a new building was completed and opened. I recently returned to see how it looks and I cannot express how impressive it is. Aspiring talent should look into attending FAMU. The new building has all everything, including tv and radio studios, non-linear edit suites, and high-end cameras. The staff is excited to get new student produced programs on the air. If anyone wants the opportunity to learn, FAMU J-School should be the place to go.

I can't say I was too impressed with Florida State University. Everything seemed like a constant battle. Classes didn't have enough seats, parking was horrendous, professors were less than average, and the school seemed obsessed with milking the students for every dime. Now I realize that "all universities have these problems" but that's no excuse not to acknowledge them. In addition to the above, the campus is located in a questionable area of town and the city itself just not happening. Even worse, FSU has consistently earned a reputation as a party school and has a student body composed of several whose IQ's fall below their shoe size and you have to ask, "how did they get to college?". I see no point in going away to college just so you can binge drink and learn how to skirt your education. I'm far from the best student, but too much of something is definitely a bad thing. On the other hand, there are some excellent professors at FSU and some very gifted individuals in general. Living in the dorms and being apart of activities is an excellent way to meet alot of great people.

Florida State University is such a great college. With over 38,000 students attending and a comprehensive degree granting university offering: a baccalaureate degrees in 94 programs, a master's degrees in 107 programs, an advanced master's/specialist degrees in 28 programs, a doctorate in 73 programs and two professional degrees, and fully accredited programs in both law (J.D.) and medicine (M.D.), FSU is an excellent choice for your university education. Other than that the culture here is very multicultural filled with races from all over. And also there are people here who party for the ones who want to party, and people who study for the ones who want to study, and people who want to make friends for those to. FSU can be whatever you want it to be because it is incredibly flexible for you!

The daily requirements are respect for self & others, as well as participation in end of the day "clean-up." All classes & activities are optional, and usually are designed based on student interest. Grassroots is based on the free-school model that originated at Summerhill School in England (founded in 1921, still in operation). The idea is that people learn best when they are allowed to approach learning on their own terms, in a free and open environment. I've seen bright, self-motivated people come out of the school and continue their education in more formal institutions. They are folks who prosper & grow in ways that benefit society as a whole.

Kids Club of Tallahassee located at 1815 Thomasville Road in Tallahassee, Florida is just what a busy parent with active kids needs. This indoor activitly center has lots for kids to do. I would say the age range is birth to around six years old. Parents stay while the kids play. Kids Clubs sells light fare and drinks including chicken nuggets, hotdogs, chips, crackers and drinks. Kids Club also offered babysitting on Saturday nights. Highly recommended.

More
The school of my childhood, and now the school of my niece, the Magnolia School is a place of joy & exploration for its students, teachers & parents. Subtitled: "A School For Active Learning," it indeed lives up to its mandates. In order to learn about theatre, Shakespeare & team-work, the entire school (K-8) banded together to stage a full-length version of McBeth, old English dialogue retained. As the basis for their study of biology & agriculture, the students have a year-round garden. To learn about machines, each student built & demonstrated a "simple machine" at a school fair. This is a place where children are allowed to be children, allowed to play & get dirty, to learn through trial & error and most importantly, to learn by doing.
