This is the best music store I've seen around the area. There is a wide assortment of instruments, both used and new. The walls are covered with shiny instruments for sale - it's eye catching. The sales floor has numerous drum sets and other instruments. Plus, there's a nice assortment of smaller items available (like cleaning cloths, rods, etc).
It's a wonderful atmosphere - well lit, good temperature, and well maintained. There's plenty of parking, too.
I have found the sales associates passionate about music and genuinely concerned about helping their customers find what they want. And, they do it with a smile. That's nice.
Prices appear to be average for a retail music store.

When you enter Home Depot, you will get a sense of largeness and a hurried bustle, as well as the color orange. (grin) But in my own experience, I have found the staff at Home Depot to be the more helpful of any of the other hardware stores.
The selection is very extensive, although not perhaps as big as their neighbor. It should suffice for many needs, though.
They also have a large collection of home decor items such as carpeting and wallpaper.

Highland Hill Music Center, located on 6th Avenue, carries mostly guitars, guitar accessories, and a large selection of sheet music (mostly arranged for guitars). They also have piano sheet music, tuners, and a small selection of other instruments and music stands.
The store provides rentals by the month, and rent is applied to your purchase. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. They also offer lessons and do repairs.
