My wife had herd about the meltingpot from friends at work and it seemed like it would be an interesting place to try out, so we went there for our first anniversary. When we arrived we were seated within 5 min so that was definitely good. Our waitress was very good and had our drinks and food out to us fast. We started with the cheese fondue which was basically the mexican four cheeses you find get at the store mixed with beer, garlic, pepper and something else. That came with a bowl of bread pieces a tiny bowl of chopped apples and another tiny bowl of chopped carrots and cauliflower. The cheese wasn't very good and we just at the food by itself. Next came the salads, I'm not a big salad fan but that was definitely the best salad I've ever had.
Then came the main course, which was a huge disappointment. It had filet (about 2-3oz if that), lobster tail (medium size), chicken (2-3oz), 6 shrimp (medium size), pork (2-3oz), and 8 pieces of ravioli. For $100 I expected a little more. The fondue made everything taste exactly the same so only thing different between the meats was the texture, oh well I was enjoying the drinks so I could deal with it right? Wrong! They stopped serving me after 3 drinks, not because I was drunk, but because that was there policy. I talked to the manager, after complaining about the small servings for so much, and on top of that cutting me, off he told me I could have one more beer but no more after that. I was to upset to enjoy the dessert which was chocolate peanut butter with fruit, marshmallows, and a small slice of cheese cake.
In the end it came out to about $160 with tip included. I've been to quite a few upscale restaurants (I don't consider the meltingpot upscale) so the price wasn't a surprise, but I've never left a restaurant hungry after paying that much. The meltingpot is the first restaurant that I've ever been so disgusted with that I will not ever consider going to again.
Pros: Good service
Cons: Food

My Fiance' (then boyfriend) decided to have a surpise engagment party for me, yet once we walked in the door it was no surprise at all. The hostess asked if we were there for the "Surprise Engagment Party" NICEEEE! So I got over all that because I was so excited....but it only got worse from there. Our waitress was rude everytime she even spoke to us. The young men who were filling our waters etc were WONDERFUL!!!!!! I could not believe that this woman would ever even be considered to work in a customer service position, she obviously does not get along with people in general. We only had a party of 9 people all but one of the women were pregnant, no one was drinking and we were having a wonderful time (besides the service). I also found a little friend in my food however once the manager was told about this and she was pursuaded a bit she compensated my meal. As far as the service and the little surprise that was supposed to happen the manager basically said "Well we are usually pretty good with these things" and nothing happened from there. Overall I was very dissapointed with the service. The food was good. I would recommend not going in a larger group and definitely dont go to the Tacoma one. Maybe try a different location. Hope you have a better experience than me!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I felt it was a very cool concept. Many courses spread out, allowing you to have great conversations,.......HOWEVER!!!! My friend was getting engaged & we told them it was a secret they did really well when seating us in a private style dining area, BUT when the couple (who were to be engaged) got there the hostess said. "are you here for the engagement party?" What?!?! Are you serious? Then when we told the manager she just said, "sorry, we usually are good about it." How lame was that for follow through on customer service. There were lots of little things that made it not so great from there (like a creature with little legs on the engaged woman's plate- but we can't control nature) but the above was the cake topper. I would say go here once as a couple to enjoy it but a NO GO for a group or suprise event 4 sure.
Pros: great atmosphere & good timing between courses to allow for conversation
Cons: non smiling waitress, blabber mouth hostesses, and non trained management

I have been there at least a dozen times. The service and food quality is awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant if your looking for something different.

Unfortunately, our experience with this restaurant was not a good one. The food was dismal, the quality of the meat was terrible (chunks of fat in a filet?), the fondue broth had no flavor at all. The chocolate for the desert was just Hershey's syrup, nothing special. The restaurant was loud the night we were there (graduation celebrations) and very busy. We were seated promptly and the service was excellent; however. for our money, we won't be back . We spent close to 200 dollars with tip and drinks, and for that money we could have a fine dining experience elsewhere and be much happier.
Pros: You can eat in the martini bar much cheaper
Cons: If you like eating boiled meat, you might like this restaurant. The food was below expectation

Some of the previous posts are ridiculous. Like the person who said ?Warning: food is cooked at table BY PATRONS THEMSELVES (read: poor service disguised as a cultural experience)?. Are you kidding me? What did you think you were going to do at a FONDUE restaurant? Did you expect them to feed it to you? We have gone here two anniversaries in a row and have loved it both times. We don?t go expecting to spend what we would spend at Outback, and we think the food and experience are worth the money. Both times we were seated in a corner private booth. The restaurant is not loud and we were seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. The service has been great, and we just have fun cooking and dipping. This is not your run of the mill restaurant.
Pros: romantic, good service, fun experience
Cons: probably not good for large groups or people that don't know each other well

Not impressed. Made reservations but was not seated until 30-45 minutes later. Warning: food is cooked at table BY PATRONS THEMSELVES (read: poor service disguised as a cultural experience) on a few hot-plates, which only works effectively if everyone shares dishes. Ordering individual dishes leads to more long waits. Other than the fondues the entrees are meager portions of meat and vegetables which you boil yourself in broth. The results are tasteless. If you're not ordering a fondue save yourself the time, hunger, and money, and go and have "hot pot" at a Chinese restaurant.
Pros: decent atmosphere, nice bathroom
Cons: , small portions, expensive
