Tatanka Take-Out is a wonderful Tacoma treasure. I guess American would be the category to put it in, though maybe if there were a health food category that would be a good place to put it. The specialty here is bison, which tastes pretty similar to beef but is way healthier---lower cholesterol, fat, etc., than even chicken, and way high in protien. Cool stuff, and tasty. I would suggest the Flawless Burrito, though tacos and burgers are tasty as well. They also have free-range chicken burgers, some good tofu-based vegetarian offerings, great "spuds", and frozen yogurt shakes. Buy frozen bison meat here too. I really can't say enough good stuff about this place.

When people talk groceries in Tacoma, it's always Metropolitan Market this, that, etc. I've found Metro Market to be kind of, I don't know, elitist at times--I just don't feel like I belong there. Stadium Thriftway is a small store, but there's a ton of stuff packed in that small space, so I can still by great gourmet and organic food w/o in a more casual sort of environment. The employees here are great, and really make an effort to get to know the regulars. The big bonus for me is that they sell Faith Dairy milk in glass bottles (!!!!!), which save for going directly to the dairy I have been unable to find at any other grocery stores around here, Metro Market included. Check out their summer lunch barbecues as well. This is a great grocery store as well as a great part of the community!

This place has been my favorite since the 70's when my parents would [romise me a slice if I was nice to the babysitter. It's all in their crust...hard to explain... it's has a whole different feel and taste to it that has to be experienced. They also have a great spicy pepperoni they use. You might need to dab the grease off the top. Order ahead to have it ready when you arrive, or to go. i order easy sauce extra well done. The pizza freezes and reheats in a toaster over quite well for up to 3 months after.
On a side note, they have great dinner salad also.

We got our wedding cake from here and wouldn't do it any differently now. These guys are extremely nice and make really good cake. Willing to do a variety of cake styles in the same cake, are flexible with frosting, etc., and offer great design advice. They even offered a fresh baked tiny cake for our first anniversary so we wouldn't have to eat year old cake. Wonderful people and delicious cake.

There’s not much to say about Tully’s. But, it’s a nice little coffee shop with a lot of variety. Granted, it doesn’t cover the market as widely as the national chain does here, but it’s a nice break from the same ole’, same ole’. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and can make a mean Latte Macchiato. Try them sometime, you won’t be disappointed.

My family loves Wendy's II so much that we had my rehersal dinner for my wedding there. Their food is amazing and very reasonably priced. Going for dinner is a better deal because you get a much bigger plate of food for just a dollar or two more, and endless rice instead of rice on the plate. They also have terrific bubble tea shakes. Wendy is often there in the store, and her son knows my family because of how often we go. The restaurant can hold a few big parties, or individual diners. They have plenty of vegetarian options also.

I first found Kim Anh when they were still over in Westgate. That had to be about 1998. Then we were sad they moved. However, very happy to find them much closer to home!
In the nearly 10 years we have been eating at Kim Anh's we have always had the best service, wonderful host, great food, and enjoyed watching their children grow up!
I have taken many out of town guests there and friends from around town. All are pleased and delighted to find such a great place.

This is one of the best places in Tacoma to get a beer and burger. Casual atmosphere, friendly staff, and a great view of the bay. And their 'Spar' chips are really tasty!

I knew Immediately that this was a great place when i first walked in. The owners A.J. and Julie Rivard are the Nicest people i have Ever met. The Service was the best I have ever had they are devoted to what they do and they never wrong anyone or mess a drink up for that matter! The Coffee itself outranks Starbucks and Tullys by a mile! They Also have a type of coffee ive never heard about its Called Cold Shots its a Cold Brewed Espresso it was NEVER heated and is the best thing to have in Iced Drinks! The Drinks are VERY Inexpensive! i love the Coffee and enjoy the company if you're looking for an inexpensive but great place to get your coffee this is it! There also open Really early 5:30am during the week!
