Great prices for great Japanese food. Don't get Kabuki confused with $3.99 Teriyaki joints. There are only 3 real Japanese restaurants in Tacoma. Kabuki has great teriyaki, REAL teriyaki, hot with crisp skin. But, to me, teriyaki is minor in the great choices of japanese food, and Kabuki has a good choice of items. For lunch, try Nabeyaki Udon, japanese style chicken noodle soup. I can hardly tear myself away from ordering it everytime. Too hot for soup? Try some grilled fishes, a sushi boat, combos with steak & tempura or gyoza, all deliciously and artistically done, and there's lots more too chose from. Of course, I have to have a sushi roll or sashimi as an appetizer first. It is always fresh, which is so important, nothing like that nobby, slimey stuff at the supermarket. Good sushi is almost as rare as the number of Japanese restaurants in Tacoma. But, if your afraid of raw fish, you're missing life, but then, have a crystal or tempura shrimp roll, all cooked with a crunch!
Avoid peak hours unless you have time, it can get backed up because everything is prepared fresh and from scratch. You'll never get warmed over, pre-prepared food here. Hot, fresh, and consistent,it is worth any wait. And for goodness sake, try something new!
Pros: Great friendly service and always free parking available.
Cons: Maybe too popular as it take's time to serve a full house. Make reservations for large parties.

The food was adequate the food portions were very small. The prices were OUTRAGOUS. Not very kid friendly environment. Our service was alright until we wanted our check and then we weren?t able to find the waitress for about 10 minutes or so. This isn?t the first time we have been to a Japanese restaurant but we expected more especially for that price. We will definitely have to pass on this place.

Sushi is sushi most places you go. For the record, I love sushi! I wasn't too impressed with this place. It was good, don't get me wrong. I did like the cheap mixed drinks. They go anywhere from $3 to $4. The edamame was cold and not too fresh. Service was nice and quick. Got a lot of food for a little money.
Pros: Cheap drinks, parking, service
Cons: freshness

Kabukis is a Wonderfull place to have lunch or dinner. It is full of Japanese Cuisine and while it has Teriyaki it is not a typical Teriyaki Joint. It is a place of elegance and a Great place to have a Party. They have Tea rooms for large groups of people which give you and your group a bit of privacy! While not as Cheap as other Japanese resturants the food is worth EVERY penny!

Kabuki is probably one of the more consistent sushi joints I've been to. The hot food is traditionally prepared and excellent. (The homemade teriyaki sauce is unreal!) The sushi is always fresh, delicious and generous. The fresh salmon is ALWAYS buttery and perfect. Just don't order toro here, it comes so thin you can see through it to the rice. (I've tried 3 times- strikeout) DO get the Kabuki Roll, it's a refreshing and filling treat, as is the tanginess of their Spicy Tuna Roll.
The tatami rooms are great for groups. Take off your shoes and relax with sake and friends and stuff your face with sushi- it's fantastic and wont empty your wallet.
PS- on some holidays they have great all-u-can-eat buffets with sushi and hot entree's that are all well prepared for only 22$ p/person- GREAT deal
Pros: Fresh Sushi, Price, Hot entree's
Cons: only one Sushi chef
