You gotta sift through the industrial area to get to this waterfront ambience but it's worth it. After waiting at the the train tracks for the train to pass at at 7:30 on a Saturday, we made our reservation 10 mins. late.
It's a Marina! WOW!
The wait staff came in droves assisting but not intruding. You can tell that they are all about teamwork at Johnny's!
Seafood is their specialty but I had steak with Johnny's seasoning, of course.
The cocktails are strong and wine glasses small. Dinner was moderate-high in the price range...but worth it.
Johnny's is a perfect balance of ambience and sensory delight...and the location gives Tacoma a BIG city feel.

Advanced Stream is my internet-cable provider, located here in Tacoma. In fact, their headquarters is in the Proctor district although they don't have a sign out. ;-)
Advanced Stream is extremely responsive to problems, and if the server goes down or the email stops working, you can just pick up the phone and call them. Real live people will answer, although only during working hours. They fix problems quickly. The prices are competitive.
I could have faster cable if I were willing to pay more, which I'm not, but that's really my only complaint. These guys are worth checking out.

Wish I was still on the old AT&T Wireless, if only for better plans and ease of use. I like Cingular, don't get me wrong. Seems like they have the best deals and the best coverage area. I never have a dropped phone call and I can get service even in the hospital when others can't. I'm on the GSM/GPRS network though, not the old TDMA like I used to be. Ive noticed a big difference in the clarity of my calls.
Cingular customer service is getting better too. During the switchover from AT&T Wireless, they sucked. But I rode it out (and I had to, because I was in a 2 year agreement), and now they are MUCH better. I'll stick with them, only because all of the other services I know of suck worse. My partner has TMobile, and boy that service is BAD. He never has reception or we get dropped calls every time. Gotta get him on my plan when his is expired.
I love my fancy doohicky phone too (Motorola V551) - seems that Cingular has the biggest and best selection of phones. I've had to use it for data before when my comp was in the shop, and I was surprised at how cheap it was and how well it did (fast with the EDGE service that the phone comes with). Granted, it seems that mobile internet use has a long way to go.
And I get a discount because of my workplace, so with 1000 text messages, 450 minutes + 5000 night/weekend minutes, and all the little bells and whistles that come standard (and the rollover minutes!), it's a great deal for a total of $50 per month (that's with all the taxes and stuff too).

Well, I'm definitely NOT going to comment on Starbucks coffee itself. They are omnipresent, and you can make up your own mind, if you haven't already. I'm just commenting on the location of this one....right in the Green Firs shopping center, which also houses the ubiquitous Trader Joe's (ahhhh, heaven!).
This Starbucks has a nice corner location and spacious table seating outside. Great drive up parking, easy in and out access (isn't that what my fiance says? ;-) Just kidding. This is a good location, nice, friendly employees.

Before my partner got back from Iraq in November 2004, we decided to buy him a Z3. We had been researching it on the internet when he was in Iraq (gotta love today's Army!). The day after he got back, I got a phone call from him asking me to come down to BMW Northwest to check out a little 2000 silver Z3 Roadster. I was excited of course, because I drive a minivan!
We spoke with a salesperson by the name of Kenneth Rachal, who was just a great guy. Not some slick used car salesman. Since my partner was so emotional about being back and getting a neat little Z3, I did the negotiating and dealing with them. They came down $4k in the price and we picked it up for $23k and change. I thought it was a good deal for 36k miles on a 2000 roadster, 2.8 engine.
The only part that was bad about all of this was that when they went to install the aftermarket alarm in their shop, they did it wrong. Turns out though that all aftermarket alarms on BMWs don't work right. We didn't know this until we talked to my BMW afficianado uncle who had this same problem on his BMW.
Great service, great selection, and really nice staff. I'm a tough cookie when it comes to big purchases, and I didn't feel like I was getting "sold." Granted, we were going to get this car anyway (how can you say no to a newly arrived, battle-hardened soldier who wants me to drive his Z3?? LOL), so I would go back if I were in the market for another BMW.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday last year. We had a great seat next to the water, and it wasn't too packed since it was a weekday. We had great steaks, nice, lovely, ambience, great wine, and the staff was attentive and nice. I really like this old guard restaurant and so did he. It was a nice treat, reasonably priced for what we got, and good food.

The gentleman at Alpine was one of the people who was most helpful to me when I was learning about computers. Very knowledgeable, very patient, and always ready to give a little help over the phone if at all possible.
Alpine will make house calls, very important when you're in a bind and need help right now without delay. They carry various parts and accessories, too.

I was strolling in the mall yesterday when I happened to look down the corridor to see a Jamba Juice at the very far end. I'm trying to lose some of my baby weight, so I wanted to eat something healthy. I was going to head down to the Nordstrom espresso stand when I saw them. So I went there. I've never been to a Jamba Juice before.
I ordered a green tea drink with a femme boost. Delicious!!! Granted, it was something like $5 for it. So it was my meal....even though it was a very tasty drink. I would hesitate to order one of these on a regular occasion, only because they are so expensive for a foo-foo healthy Orange Julius.
I wanted to get a drink with more veggies in it, but they don't have those. They only have fruit based drinks, which is not good for those of us on the South Beach Diet! :) There's not really any room for making your own drink like a traditional juice bar either....they are a franchise and they operate like one.
And you can call your drink order in ahead of time and they have curbside pickup service - how cool is that? You just have to maneuver in mall traffic to get there!
