This store is great. It has all kinds of devotional religious materials. We homeschool and we always find a little something to supplement with what we have already. Just walking in the store makes you feel great. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are average but they seem to have everything you are looking for and more.

The Tacoma Book Center has a huge selection of used books at very reasonable prices. You can easily spend hours in there browsing the wide variety of books. The Tacoma Book Center is very well organized and books are easy to find. Another bonus is that the staff is just friendly enough to not get on your nerves while shopping or browsing. Overall I would say this is a great used book shop and would recommend it to all book lovers.

Kings Books, in the Stadium district, is a great used book store with some new releases as well. This book store has the customary catacombs of bookshelves you'd expect in a good used book store, as well as a comfortable cat or two. It usually displays local artwork in the front counter, and has information about upcoming events.

If you want something truly catholic...this is the place to go. Family owned and operated with an orthodox lean, this place is a treasure. Something for all ages, and they can also special order. vercillo's also is a hub for Orthodox Catholic news and events. Need a gift for any Sacrament, or a prayer card or scapular(they have the one Mel Gibson wears Crusader's cross) you will find it here. Also a good place to find Saint medals and prayer cards. you also get a discount if you work or volunteer for a church.

The Crystal Voyage is one of the most beautiful well organized New Age/Metaphysical shops I have seen in a while. They have a wide variety of products and are very clean & bright. Browsing or shopping through The Crystal Voyage gives you a sense of comfort & happiness. The employees are very friendly and they don't bother and harass you while browsing their goods. They are a bit expensive but most of the products they sell are worth the money! It is a pleasant experience & will return.

Borders bookstore is in a good location, close to the interstate and mall. There seems to be plenty of parking. They have a great kids department but the rest of the store seems rather sterile. The atmosphere is lacking. I was also disappointed in the selection of books in the fiction department compared to other stores.

Kaufers specializes in Catholic supplies of all sorts- greeting cards, crosses and rosaries, statues, and general gifts for one receiving a sacrament. Clerical robes are usually on display in the front of the store. It's a great alternative to the toy or department store for a meaningful Christmas or Easter gift. The staff is friendly and helpful. They will take special orders.

Freighthouse Square is the most unique shopping experience I've ever had! The building is shaped like a long, long freight train, and that's the motif the designers went with on the inside. Adorable, unique little shops line both sides of the long, long hallway, with 1800's train decor prominent everywhere. The effect is completely unique, although I suppose that technically it could be called a 'mall' of sorts since it is all indoor shopping.
Most of the little shops are gift shops, although there are a fair number of restaurants as well. In the basement, reached by a long flight of steps, are an antique shop and other areas.
It's entirely possible to spend an entire day just wandering and browsing the shops, especially at Christmas! Much more fun than the regular Mall.

This store certainly hits a trifecta for me. Where else can you buy used books, find new and back issue comic books, and new and used role playing games? O'Leary's has a huge store for what they sell, so there's never any danger of it being too crowded. Prices on everything are very reasonable, and they even have some of the hard to find stuff. This place is a little out of the way, but it's worth the trip.
