We drove from Issaquah to try this museum out. We went on a Thursday since it was free this month. We were a bit disappointed. It was difficult to find - not a lot of signage. And parking was a bear. The only parking nearby was 1 hr only. The staff was very firendly and helpful. And if there was only more room - like twice the space - it would be worth it. It's packed into such a small area it's a bit overwhelming and the kids (two year old twins and a 4 year old) were bored quickly.
Pros: ideas for exhibits, friendly staff, nice promos
Cons: much too small, lack of parking, needs more signage

We took my wife's litttle cousins to this museum and they loved it! Lots of hands on interaction with even a play around for the kids to dress up and relive some aspects of history. Prices aren't really too bad - especially to keep kids entertained. I think they have a done a great job of tailoring a museum to kids and help them appreciate musuems at an early age.

Not as big or flashy as its counterpart in Seattle, the Children's Museum of Tacoma is nevertheless worth a visit by anyone with small children to entertain. They offer free Fridays the first Friday of every month and you should avoid those like the plague -- they get so busy there is a waiting list to get in. The art station is very popular, but be careful as the paint they use does not wash out of clothing easily! In all, it's well worth the price of admission, or if you live in the area, a membership, because it keeps the kids so happy!
