We came in on a friday night, a group of 6, me and my wife and two other couples and we heard good stuff about delmonte restuarant so we dicided to give it a try. We got a table right away and the service was prompt. We got a young gentleman as out waiter that was very friendly that recommened a Croatian Wine and we took his word for it and it was excellent, a little different from your typical wines. We ordered appetizers and we took the Dalmation Platter and Cevapicic(Spelling?). The platter was home dryed Proschuto and Asiago cheese served with olives and anchovies. The Cevapicic were little meat saussages, almost like kabobs, very tasty. For our entrees we ordered Salmon, A WholeFish, Rac k Of Lamb, Filet, Seafood Pasta, and i had the Pork Chops. Everythign was excellent, nothign was left, the food was excellent, we all shared and it was great. For dessert we had a Soufle and Tiramisu. Those were good too. All in all, i would give in 9 out of 10, Food excellent, service was good, all in all a good restuarnt and we will defidently be back.
Pros: Great Little Restaurant, Good Service
Cons: No Parking, Not a Huge Wine List

If you walk down Murphy Ave in Sunnyvale, Del Monte is pretty easy to miss or dismiss as just another hole in the wall. Behind the dark glass, however, is an elegant and friendly Mediterranean place that's apparently owned by people descending from Croatia (former Yugoslavia) and therefore featuring quite a wild variety of food.
The menu is available on the restaurant Web site http://www.delmonterestaurant.com/menu.html and don't be afraid to ask the waiter for the explanation of any item. We tried Cevapcici Croatian Style, which turned out to be mini-sausages made out of various kinds of meat and prepared fresh, quite tasty for an appetizer.
The Scampi Provencale and the sturgeon (not on the menu, but offered to us during the daily specials recital) were quite good, served with steamed vegetables and some mashed potatoes on the side. The portions are all about presentation, and the large plate was sprinkled with parsley. The service was a bit slow, but they had just one waiter for roughly 12-14 tables that were in the restaurant that night.
The interior is nice, clean, and well kept. This is a white cloth place, and it has a pretty good wine list. Most of the menu is available online on the restaurant Web site.

Only go to this restaurant if you are on first name terms with the owner/staff, have no children. If you want good food and want to be ignored to the point of thinking you have some personel hygiene problem, this is the place for you. The waiting staff appear to go out of their way to not get their tip and the owner seems to resent your very presence.
If you're thick-skinned, and thrive in a cold ambience, but like good food, go to Del Monte's and at least you will save on the tip.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Atmosphere, Service

Del Monte Restaurant is my favorite restaurant by far. Its a mix of croatian and italian. I live in Los Altos and it is worth the drive! Its a small little restaurant, family run, not one of those big chains that only care about how many people there are. They treat you as if you are family. I ordered the Rack of Lamb and it was excellent, my wife had the whole fish dalmation style(something you dont find other places). I recommend this place to all my family and friends and you should too.
Pros: location, food , service
Cons: parking

The manager must have been the owners son. This guy was the biggest jerk I have ever seen. His tone of voice was that of he comes from a street gang. VERY immature! I was appalled. I have never seen anything even remotely close to such a snotty young man in restaurant business, anywhere.
Place was moslty empty. and it was a Saturday night. I work nearby, and it is always mostly empty at lunch. I see why!

We moved from Sunnyvale, and regret no longer having the Del Monte within walking distance. The owners are European, and have a wonderful menu blending Croatian, Italian, Hungarian, and continental favorites. I love steak, and they have a medallions of beef dish with a bernaise sauce that is pure heaven. Their pasta dishes are terrific as well, especially the spinach tortellini. I have had French onion soup all over the world, and the Del Monte's is the best I've had. I miss this place. You should go there immediately.
Pros: quality of food, wine list, variety of meals
Cons: sometimes is busy, parking is limited
