Cramped, uncomfortable booths. The food was uninspired (Fettuchini Bolonese) and the meatballs were raw inside. Salad dressing was oily and tasted bland.

Upon reading the reviews and being in the mood for Italian I gave this place a try. Wow what a mistake. I'll break my review into a couple areas Food/Service/Etc.
Food: I ordered a simple Fettuccini Arabiatta, with the minestrone soup. The soup came out nice and hot, however it unfortunately had zero of the flavor that you would expect (there is only so much parmesan one can add). Once my entree arrived I was impressed by how well plated it was, until I noticed the shear volume of oil at the bottom. Although I found the pasta to be of a reasonable quality the dish overall had no flavor what-so-ever, which for a dish that is supposed to be "angry" (aka spicy) is ridiculous.
Service: My waiter was super friendly, however he insisted I pay my bill as my entre was brought out. Presumably this was because they wanted to close out the till before closing, but it was a bit ridiculous. Obviously in the same vain (trying to close up) my entre was brought out about a 2 minutes after my soup, which makes it tough to enjoy a meal.
To sum up I am Italian, eat Italian quite often and have never had such a disappointing meal. Perhaps I caught them on an off night, but this will be one place I will never try again.
Pros: Interesting Atmosphere
Cons: Horrible Food

This is my favorite Pizza place in the Southbay. Their pizza's are huge! And one of the best crusts I've ever had. It's been a while since I had anything other than pizza here. The pasta dishes used to be ok, but not great. It sounds like that has changed. The staff here is extremely friendly! Its a great place to meet friends, or with family.

This place has good choices for veggies. Some of their specials are also veggie. Give nice warm bread with any entree. The ambience is ok, looks way too crowded.

Great pizza's to go in many sizes. I like the fresh halibut fillet and real veal marsala dinners. The ingredients are fresh.

Gumba's has good pizzas, especially for its price. It also has pretty good pastas such as its Cajun style pasta. However, Gumba's dishes are not consistently tasty. The salads are not well tossed or cut. Also, the dressings are too thick to and they leave a foul taste in one's mouth. The Pesto Chicken Calzone it not tasty at all. There is barely any meat. Instead, there is tons of oil, cheese, and grease. The Clam chowder does not have much substance. The majority of the bowl is filled with potatoes. In addition, the Garlic bread was not served fresh. It was somewhat stale. Overall, Gumba's is a good restaurant to enjoy a pizza or pasta with friends, while being in a relaxed environment, but the majority of dishes are just average.
Pros: Inexpensive pizza, Pasta
Cons: , soups, salads

Gumba's has got to have the best portions when it comes to pizzas. Its medium pizza is around the same size as a large elsewhere and its large is extra large (don't ask how big the extra large is!). The other dishes however don't come quite as big, but are so tasty you wouldn't care. Good family-oriented restaurant with good food and good atmosphere.
