authentic, japanese owned japanese restraunt.
most friendly staff ever, no random asian foods that you can get at panda express either. some things are pricey but believe me, everything here is way beyond its value. They used reputable fish distributors, instead of just getting generic raw fish for lower price. Look for their daily lunch specials. and remember, the prices are TAX included too!.
PROS: everything,
CONS: more seating!

I was at Hanamaru sushi restaurant on Friday with my friends.
Alothough it takes about on an hour from San francisco to drive to sunnyvale, it was definitely worth it.
The restaurant doesn't look super fancy, but their interior looks clean and cute.
We sit in the bar, the sushi chef was very friendly(although his english wasn't good), the food was yummy.
Actually, I though this place is even better than some japanese restaurant in Japan town.
I and my friends really enjoyed the food and the service!
It was one of the best japanese restaurant!
Pros: Food and service
Cons: N/A

This place is great! The quality of food and service is wonderful. The food's fresh and portions are just right. I believe they specialize in their tempura -- I've never had it any better than at Seto's! Although prices might be a little on the high side, it's well worth it. (I think it's actually Japanese owned and run... so it's authentic!) I've always been pleased with each visit...

fANTASTIC! I say this, having live in san francisco for many years, and after experiencing the true culinary genius that exists here, did not think any other place outside of the city would satisfy my expectations. I happened to be in sunnyvale, on a business meeting, and took my client here after seeing the website on Citysearch. I'm really glad, and relieved. All four of us had the same opinion. Beautiful dining space, great energy, very surprised by the presense of the great restaurant like this on el camino, especially from the way it looks from the outside. The look and colors of the decor are excting, and when the food and drinks come along, it makes the experience even better. All of the sushi was fresh, and the cocktails were well done as well. From what I understand from my colleagues, the dining options in the south bay are limited, and they were glad that Kampai House is here.
Pros: decor, food, drinks
Cons: none that i found

I don't go there for nice treatment by the staff. I go there for Food. There are may Japanese restaurants in the area, but this place cook good Japanese food. When I miss the taste of the Japanese food I grew up with, I would come here. Especially the rice they cook is really good. Gochi's rice is horrible. For ture Japanese, RICE is IMPORTANT.
Pros: Food is very Japanese. More authentic than Gochi
Cons: Staff is a bit slow

This is the best sushi I've found in the area. The sushi is always fresh, the staff is friendly, the portions generous and the food delicious. It's a great place to go with friends or on a date. The atmosphere is inviting and I like the decor. The bento boxes are a great deal. There's so many choices to pick from and there's something for everybody.
Pros: Ambience, Parking, Generous portions
Cons: Plum wine a little pricey

I had the best sushi ever on Tuesday!! My friends from Japan came visit this week and they requested to go to the Sushi Club. This is the first time I've been there and I didn't think I'd like it because the place is so small and unattractive. Boy, was I wrong. The food was amazing!! I am not sure if it's because my friends were able to order in Japanese, but everything that we had was fantastic.
We order tons of toro sashimi and nigiri (my favorite!) -- so fresh and inexpensive compared to the other sushi places. We also order, the bamboo shoots, salmon skin salad, octopus, deep-fried flounder, crab and avocado salad, etc. I couldn't name it all because we ended up ordering everything!! I highly recommend this place!

After eating for more than 20 years at other sushi restaurants in the Bay Area, I've finally found Sushi Heaven! The sushi here is just right: the fish itself is tender and melt-in-your-mouth yummy, and the rice is just the right amount. There's a good ratio of meat-to-rice, and there's no lingering metallic taste (like it's been in a deep-freeze somewhere). The hand rolls are also excellent. My particular favorites are fresh salmon, hamachi, and unagi, and the salmon skin hand roll. To be honest, folks that I've taken there (and there have been quite a few) have not been as thrilled with the non-sushi items, such as tempura or teriaki. However, since I love the sushi, I'm not even tempted to stray! Now, all other sushi tastes flat and rubbery. I'm spoiled!
PROS: Great sushi
CONS: lousy music in the background

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the bay area. I met my wife at Midori on a blind date. I proposed to here there, and we had our wedding banquet there too! Jeff, Minnie, Helen, and Carrie are all very attentive to their customers. Jeff came in on his day off to congratulate us at our wedding banquet; Minnie personally decorated the entire back room with beautiful flowers arrangements, lots of balloons, and traditional Asian figurines.
I've been eating at Midori for well over 5 years and I haven't noticed any drop-off in quality of food or service in that span. The staff is courteous, prompt, and lively. I can honestly say I find the restaurant to be fairly priced. *If you are of drinking age* treat yourself, and ask Jeff to set you up a sake bomb! This restaurant is extraordinary!
Pros: Entertaining, Romantic, Family oriented

This little sushi restaurant, I believe, is a sister restaurant to the one located in Cupertino. I was impressed with both of them, especially with the quality of the food! The sushi was very fresh and the staff always ready to help. Definitely recommended!
