Starlite Dance Club

The first time I walked in I was amazed at the size of this dance club. You'll get the opportunity to dance with a variety of partners with different levels of skill. The drop in classes offer convenience when you've got a changing schedule. The beginner's classes are a great way to warm-up or practice, however if you're an experienced dancer you may want to wait for the Intermediate instead. more

I have mixed feelings about this Studio. I took both private lessons and group lessons at the Starlite and I attended several of their Friday night Dances and their "Private" dances which are held for their private lesson students only. The atmosphere feels more like school auditorium rather than a ballroom but the floor is good. The private lessons are good depending on what teacher you take them with. They are pretty expensive but they're pretty generous with the free passes for group lessons and Friday Night Dances if you take the private lessons. The Starlite really caters toward their Private Lesson students and if you can afford the lessons they are worth it. The Friday Night Dances are fun, the only thing I would avoid is the beginning group lessons, unless you bring your own partner you don't get much out of them since you tend to be paired with another beginner and end up being tripped up and falling all over each other each class. Best to learn with an experienced teacher. more

I practice at the Starlite, and recommend it for anything but salsa - they have good teachers, a great floor, and competitive prices. They teach all forms of ballroom dances. For salsa go to Alberto's in M.V. on T/Th nights for the drop-in classes with Pantea or Gabriel. Salsa's a club dance and the Starlite will teach you ballroom salsa which is very different They are located on Fair Oaks and Tasman and do group classes, private lessons and parties (Fri night they have Beginning and Int WC Swing drop-in classes) http://startliteballroom.com more
