Borders has almost every book or cd you can think of. They also have a wide variety of movies as well. You can buy a book at a low price and then go to their wonderful cafe.

Borders at the corner of Mathilda and El Camino is one of my favorite bookstores in the Bay Area. It is conveniently located and generally has ample parking (although can be quite limited in the evenings when PF Chang's is busy). It is located in a mall close to several very good restuarants and can be either a great appetizer or dessert. :) The store is not the biggest that I have been in but has a really good selection of fiction, science fiction, music, DVDs, etc. The in store coffee shop is nice to. The store is nicely busy but not crowded.
PROS: Convenient, good selection, nice staff
CONS: Two stories, parking sometimes problematic

Borders bookstore is a great place to buy a book or just hang out. They don't mind if you browse books or magazines. They also have good and cheap bargain books

When Borders first came to my area (sunnyvale) about 7 years ago I thought that they were absolutely the best. They had books that were impossible to find almost anywhere else. Obscure university press books, musical scores, poetry, you name it and it was available. That was before they sold out to corporatism and gigantism. If it isn't mass market Borders no longer seems to have an interest in selling it. I recently found myself thinking that when it comes to mass market chain bookstores, I prefer B&N. I though that I would never say that but it has finally happened.

Borders has a good selection for books, music, and DVDs, and has comfortable places to sit and read. There is a also a place to buy coffee. So, it is a great place for browsing. As for buying though, the prices are far, far higher than buying online from a place like Amazon.com. Often about twice as expensive, in fact! So, I recommend browsing there but not buying unless you really want the item sooner.
PROS: Comfortable place to browse books
CONS: Expensive

I really enjoy Borders bookstores because they have so much selection. The coffee shop inside the store is really nice if you like to spend time drinking coffee and reading. It is pretty easy to find what you are looking for (even if you don't know) and if you can't find it, the employees are good about helping you out.
