I have been married twice at the Wayside Inn, that is how much I love this Historic area. I have had Christmas parties and family functions there as well. The food and the service are impeccable. To walk around the grounds congers up a time gone by and the Grist Mill and the Martha Mary Chapel are lovely. Every chance I get I eat there. I feel fortunate to be able to live so close to such a treasure

I was selected to photograph a wedding reception at the Wayside Inn because I had experience with both event photography and historic architectural photography, having work published in This Old House Magazine. A unique location for a medium-sized wedding if you want it indoors, or they will do a tent for an outdoor wedding. There is a historic mill on the property as well as a church. Perfect for a traditional New England wedding with a lot of character. - Heather Parker

To go to the Wayside Inn is to step back in time. There are grounds to walk on and so much history to soak up. If you have time, eat there -- it is expensive but delicious. Definitely explore the upstairs where antiques transport you back in time. The Inn itself is especially lovely around Christmas, but the grounds are beautiful in the fall with all of the wonderful colors

Like I said in the title it is a Historian lovers' delight, but it was not mine. I am not interested in history so I was only moderately amazed by the authentic historical grounds and rooms. This place has made every effort to give a historic feel, with the fields and rooms looking like you were back in time. I prefer modern styles and looks so I did not appreciate it as much.

I was looking forward to visting this historic location and my financee's family treated us; seemingly a stroke of luck. The Inn is lovely; worth a visit to wander round the fascinating property & buildings. The staff are friendly and fast. This is where the experience ended. The food was of a lower standard than a truckstop buffet. The salad was wilted lettuce with packet (!) dressing. My roasted lamb was fatty grey cold slabs with brown sauce straight from the packet. Vegetables were boiled or microwaved; not sure which. My finacee's salmon was another cold slab with burnt stove-top breadcrumbs on top. Other two meals were equally forgettable, straight from the chafing dish. My advice - go, have a drink at the bar, enjoy the history. The food is the worst I've had in a restaurant in the US. The meal wasn't worth $5 (cost $35 per head)
