After reading all the hype from numerous publications, I decided to try this place. We ordered the omakase (chef's choice) and was extremely impressed. The fish was fresh which mixed perfectly with the warm rice. However, the service was rushed and we felt the pressure to eat up and leave. Nonetheless this is a place worth going back for some good straight up no non-sense sushi. I'd recommend Sushi Sasabune in West LA over Sushi Nozawa because Sushi Nozawa serves two pieces of the same sushi while sasabune serves only one. Thus, you'll get more variety from Sushi Sasabune.
Pros: Sushi

They don't take reservations and there is no valet parking. The decor and location capture the ambiance of a low rent diner. The service is direct, if not spartan. There is, in other words, nothing to distract from the meal at hand. Perfect slices of raw fish that melt on contact. Warm rice that barely hangs together. This is the finest sushi in LA.

Looks just like any other small inornate sushi joint on sushi row. That is until you put the piece of sashimi in your mouth. Then you really understand the beauty of SUSHI! There's no menu...only a small old sushi chef behind the counter w/a sign next to him saying, "Trust me." Trust me...you'll become a regular!

Loved the sushi, but, boy, are those waiters rude. If they don't know you, they treat you like you're a total idiot. To bad they don't have a to-go window, then you'd never have to deal with the servers, but you could still eat the yummy fishy.
Pros: crab rolls
Cons: crabby waiters
