The 45 minute train ride is just right for the grandkids, plus its a great activity that the grandparents can participate in despite the summer heat! View the pastoral countryside and Amish farms. Coach was economical, toddlers - 3 yrs and under ride free. At the platform you can visit a toy store carrying Thomas the Tank Engine paraphernalia and our kids loved the cranky car ride.

The Strasburg Railroad is a steam engine train that takes you for a ride through the countryside of Lancaster County. While you relax during this ride the conductors will tell you facts. At one point during the ride the train will slow and toot the horn which will echo and the kids always get a thrill from this. You can take the end of the one way and get off and have a picnic lunch and catch a later train if you chose. There is also a train shop and a dining room car which was made into a restaurant. The train is a popular attraction and you should get there early in the morning to get tickets for the ride you'd like. My kids liked to put pennies on the rails and have the train run over them flattening them. One note is that the train attaction can be costly for a family.

If you have a kid who loves trains, this place is the ultimate! The centerpiece is a restored steam engine that takes you on a 45 minute trip through the countryside. The trip is well worth the ticket price. They also have a place to eat at the depot and several kiddie rides and stores. You can easily spend a whole afternoon.

They have lots of other trains to see and a setup with sir topham hatt to. This is the very best attraction in strasburg I think and the kids are just crazy about it.

At Christmas time you can take a train ride with an authentic Santa Claus together with carolers singing in the cars. They also have coal/woods stoves burning in each car to keep the damp cold weather away. The ticket prices are very reasonable and the trains run continuously so you will be able to find a time that works for your schedule. A great experience for all train lovers.

At Christmas time there is a ride along with Santa in which carolers can be found throughout the coaches singing tunes of the season. This makes for wonderful holiday memories and absolutely will put you in the Christmas spirit.
