My best friend and I decided today to take a stroll over to a couple of our local Antique Malls. We used to make a day of it back before we were married and all that jazz.
We went to a couple of places, one of which was the Heart of Ohio Antique mall right off of I-70. It's bloody huge and tough to miss.
Our goal going into the day was to acquire some records and a new front door for my house. We had a good time and there is definitely a lot to see. I was struck however at the seemingly ridiculously high prices on some of the items. Is an old plastic cup really worth 20 bucks?
Is the mere fact that something is old give it an immediate value? Obviously not. Some things I understand based on how rare they are and what not, but when I pick up a rotten piece of wood and it's marked 30 bucks, it's kinda out of control. It's almost as if the dealers are just showin off. When you have a huge metal sign for 5 grand, you know you're probably never gonna sell it, you just want to let people know you got it.
Overall, I always enjoy the looking, but if you're out for the hunt and bargains you're in the wrong barn brother.
