Orleans has a lot to offer. I like the food there and I like to dine in the nice atmosphere of an elegant restaurant but at a much lower price. At the same time it's a good place to get together with your friends for drinks. The restaurant is very accommodating to both small and large groups. If you're with 5 or so of your friends and want just a drink there are plenty of hight tables and of course there is the lounge. If you can grab it.... It's often occupied as this is a popular part of the restaurant.

If you haven't been to Orleans in a while, you might not know, but recently you can get some infused vodkas at Orleans. Yes, we all know... bars always try to get fancy shmancy with infused beverages, but this one is special.. It's strawberry and BASIL infused. You'd think it be quite bad, but in fact it's the best vodka ever. Those two flavors go so well together, although you would've never expected it.

Orleans in addition to food and drinks is also great for large groups, whether for dinner or just as a party. The restaurant/bar area is very spacious and combining tables is easy. However, if you'd rather not sit around a long table, you can reserve the lounge area. It can sit up to around 12 - 15 people (depending how crowded you want to get). It's so much better than sitting around long table. Try it.

If you visit Orleans as frequently as I do, you know that the choice of entertainment for the venue are dj's -- and they are pretty good as well. However, recently I discovered that Orleans decided to move into a live music scene as well. I went there last Friday and to my surprise, instead of a dj they set up a little stage and two guys with guitars started playing decent covers of known songs. AND THEY WERE GOOD TOO. It was perfect addition to the martinis that we ordered. Check it out -- Friday nights -- I have no idea what the name of the band is.

Now the the rains have stopped I heard that the patio will be opening soon and that they have made changes this year. I've been there last week and noticed that they put in a door that goes directly from the bar area to the patio, which means that the quality of service should improve (not that it was bad before). I think this is the only place in davis that has this large and nice of an outdoor dining area. YESSS!

I've read the reviews and I agree that Orleans is a cool place. One thing that everyone forgot to mention is that they have free wi-fi (unlike all the coffee shops in Davis). Ok, cool, so maybe you'll look a bit like a dork when you show up on Friday night with your laptop.. but it's a perfect place to do homework during the day or on the weekend at brunch/lunch. It's kind of nice really. The place is usally quite empty during the day. I must say that I enjoy sitting on the couches, with the windows wide open, eating eggs benedict and playing around on my laptop. Oh, and if you go in and just get a soda or coffee the staff won't be nasty to you. I've done that and they are quite cool about just hanging out even if you only buy $2 worth of stuff.
