You cannot finish your food. No, really. A jumbo calzone defeated me, one of my housemates and my seventeen year old eats-what's-not-nailed-down cousin. Those plates of fries? They overfloweth. The food is good, though I wouldn't say great. Eating too much of it doesn't leave me feeling at my best. Then again, that may just be a sign I need to exercise a wee bit of self-control. The staff is reasonably friendly and there's a TV in the corner and lots of nice seating by the windows. Also, the cannolis are delicious.

Mike's is notorious for their unfriendly, even sullen, staff, which is unfortunate considering the fantastic location. Stop in for a slice of cheese pizza if you need one, but skip the added toppings, which are just tossed on when the pizza heats and rarely stick. The other dishes are hit and miss, but largely mediocre. Good for grabbing a slice if you're in a hurry, but otherwise, there are better, and friendlier, places in the area.

On Sox nights you'll see everyone in Mike's with jaws open, staring at the big TV at one end. It's a real neighborhood hangout, from students to senior citizens. You can always get a pretty okay slice here, the pasta entrees are big and tasty, and one order of garlic bread is bigger than your head. Greasy paper-plate brunch until 11am, later on weekends.

I love Mike's - I love everything about it. It's a little grungy, a little "local flavor", a little greasy spoon, with a little attitude. Perfect! Great subs, great pizza, and some great pasta dishes too. Lots of beer on tap - including "Mike's Brew" - which I've heard is just PBR from a keg! But it's cheap, and that's great. Big screen TV to chow down while watching the Sox, Bruins, Celts or Pats. Just an overall great hangout for a quick bite.

A cheap, Italian place with booth seats and a very casual atmosphere. The pizza and hamburgers are ok, nothing special. I haven't tried the pasta yet. I recommend this place as a cheap bite to eat in Somerville. On the plus side, they offer alcohol, so you can have a glass of beer or wine with your pasta--not something you can do in most pizza, quick-food type places.
