I love food. And when I love a restaurant, that means something.
My favorite baba ghannouj (indescribably good) and tabouleh in the world (not overloaded with bulgur, lemony, tangy, flavorful, plenty of green, with delicious marinated tomato and onion bits).
Really good falafel sandwiches (the patties are crunchy, but not dry. moist and steaming and very tasty) with lots of tahini sauce. I now live in California, which is kinda hippie-falafel-land, but they got nothin on Pita in.
(insider tip: You can also ask for a little plate of complimentary(!) green olives, radish pickle, and seasoned raw onions when you pick up your food.)
Go here. Give em your business. And don't get fazed by the line out the door; they're quick enough and it's worth the wait.

Best pitas ever! Not too expensive, but still quality food! Amazing hummus and Chicken Shawarma!
Pros: Price, food, parking
Cons: Too far from Northwestern's Campus :-p

Pita Inn is OK. It did spark my love for Middle Eastern cuisine, however, because of the long, long, long lines I found a cute little place down the street, BASHA. Basha is a family-owned and operated place and all the food is made-to-order, while you wait. Pita Inn's assembly line, mass produced format turned me off. To me, part of the experience when experimenting with other foods is to see how its done. Basha has a big, open kitchen and you can see exactly what's happening, talk to the cooks and maybe get a recipe or two. Pita Inn's stacks of chicken and mounds of falafel just don't do it for me anymore. I've brought many people to Basha who have sworn by Pita Inn and they've fallen HARD. You really can't beat the prices at Pita Inn, but I'd rather pay a little more for the better quality and atmosphere at Basha.
Pros: It is cheap eats, a great introduction to another culture
Cons: Too mass produced for my style, plan ahead for big crowds and waiting

I know everybody's always raving about this place, but I don't really see what's all that great about it. I mean it is super crowded for one. The atmosphere is loud here. The food is plenty, but I find it bland. So, what exactly makes it so great? I still have yet to discover that. But I can give it a few plus factors like the cheap prices and the fast service. But other than that, this is definitely not one of the places on my favorites list!

This is a great place to eat at with the entire family. This is because this place has very tasty and healthy food. Also, it is very inexpensive too. They have a huge medditeranean menu here, with lots of great, healthy options. I love their falafel here, which are fried chickpea balls. There's something for everyone on this menu. Its a very casual place where you seat yourself and order yourself. But its also a fun place. It is also very popular, so watch out for the crowds during lunch hours and on weekends.

At this place you can get a lot of good food for a very low price. They have all kinds of mediterranean food, from appetizers to meals to desserts. I thought the hummus here was the best that I have had so far in the Chicago area restaurants. The only bad thing about this place is that it gets very crowded at times and so it is loud and seating can be hard to find. But otherwise it is a great place to eat.
