He is reputed to be one of the best pediatric endocrinologists out there and that may be true, but it is so torturous to go see this doctor that we end up avoiding our appointments. He is reserved to the point of actually being cold and almost inspires fear. You sort of end up feeling inadequate, as if something you're doing is making it so the diabetes is worse (and it probably is, but that makes it even MORE difficult to talk to him). Some of his nurse/educators will drag you over the rocks too. It's unbearable. When we used to go to Children's Hospital, we'd fee re-invigorated, ready to face the difficulties of diabetes again with new tools or renewed energy. But we had to switch because we had different insurance and we got stuck with Dr. Duck. Ever since it has been worse than going to the dentist with a since of dread and sadness as we anticipate each apointment, attend the appointment, then try to work on the follow-up. I wish we could go back to Children's.
