This restaurant was an amazing find for me. I had never tried burmese food before but now I am totally hooked.
The restaurant is great. Neat and clean service is fast. The food is amazing. Its something like thai food made with indian spices. You get the best of both worlds.
Thing I did not like was that the spiciness of the food is not consistent. Sometimes spicy is just right. But sometimes mild is too mild and spicy becomes too spicy to handle. I like spicy but every time I order I have to think twice if thats what I want.
They do not take reservations. I haven't had any problems with the seating yet but then again thats a chance you have to take and hope that its not too crowded.
Apart from that this restaurant is just perfect. Menu is great. Lots of different dishes. I would recommend gram fritters for appetizers, chicken # 10 entrée and swegli( i think thats what its called , first one on the list) for dessert.

This restaurant used to be in College Park and the move to Silver Spring has brought a lot more seating. That doesn't mean you won't have to wait because it has become one of the hottest places in town. Burmese food covers the intersections between Indian & Thai with lots of curries, noodle dishes and fantastic salads. Try the gram fritter salad or the green papaya one to start. Ask the servers what to try if you want some help - many of the staff are family and not shy about sharing tips. Once you have a meal here it will be hard to resist the urge to return immediately. And it is affordable enough to do so!

Mandalay is Burmese restaurant with the most delicious food. They have both noodle and curry dishes. They have different spice levels for customers, service is great, the place is neat and clean. Their pricing is just fair. You don't have to make reservations, first come first serve. Its the perfect place to go for dinner after a date. You can take your whole family there as well.
