Closer to Burtonsville than it is Silver Spring, back off the road you'll find the Woodland Horse Center. A horse lovers' haven, where they'll teach even the most skittish of children to ride and care for horses. With an indoor ring as well as paddocks for riding, there's plenty of room to exercise and enjoy a ride. Special events for kids draw a little crowd, where at Halloween, the kids AND the horses get all dressed up for the party!

I was a Northwood parent for 5 years and I must say that NPCCC has to be one of the best childcare centers that I have ever encountered. My daughter absolutely loved it when she went in at 5 years old, she is now 11 and wants to go back for their summer camp program. Their prices are reasonable for the school year and just as if not better taking into consideration the programs that are offered for the summer sessions. I relocated here from Brooklyn, New York 6 years ago and I wasn't sure what to do about before and after school care for my child - NPCCC opened their doors to me and made me feel like I was living in MD all my life. The staff is out of this world. The teachers are caring, wonderful, considerate, understanding, loving - there aren't enough words to describe the people or the extent that they will go to to make you and your child feel at home and at ease, and this is all coming from my daughter! The only reason she is no longer there is because the middle school that she now attends doesn't bus to and from NPCCC - but like I said she will be there for the Summer Program.

I attended this school for many years and it was a great education that caused me to send my children to Montessori school as well. This is also a Montessori training school so the teachers are top notch. The Montessori method is basically learn at your own pace, and has caused me to be a self-motivated analytical thinker. I would recommend this particular school to anyone interested in private school.
