Upon entering the gracious foyer you feel like you are transported to Italy. The hostess was charming and sweet. Once you pass the door you are seated in the lovely dining room. That is when the experience turns - the server was nasty and arrogant - acting like he was the customer. The food was delivered and was mediocre at best. We sent our dish back and were told no one ever sends their food back. Literally two minutes later the table next to us sent their food back too... I guess Mr. Knowitall was wrong. Bad experience - go somewhere else. Pros: lovely environment Cons: service - food quality

I've been dining at Il Palio since it opened several years ago. I've had party's for 50, business lunches for 35, dinners for 4 - 6, and intimate Valentine dinners with my wife, and I have never had a less then exceptional experience. The food has been excellent, and service has always been above reproach. The restaurant is beautiful (the bathrooms downstairs are worth a special trip...) the entry bar is a bit small, and they should do away with the TV - definitely spoils the ambiance, and the wine list is pricey, but a bit limited for this type of restaurant. I recommend it unhesitatingly. Pros: Ambience, Wait staff and food Cons: Small entry bar, TV

We waited two hours for our food which was over priced and nothing special. Heard the female manager yelling at the waiters from the kitchen like it was their fault. What a waste of atmosphere and money. Stay home, save your money. This space would better used as office space!! Its a black-eye for Shelton! It was hard getting him to share. The Insalata Arugula was our choice for salad, very good choice also. For our entree we shared the Fiorentina for 2...words can hardly describe. Cooked to perfection, presentaion beautiful and so much flavor. If your looking for a place to be treated like royalty or impress a client, visit this jewel in shelton you won't be dissapointed!!!
