Captains Pizza has been a pillar our family's eating plan for over 20+ years. This branch in Shelton is by far the best, with excellent ambiance, great food, and an excellent staff. For those unfamiliar with Captains Pizza, it is a chain of about 10 restaurants in Fairfield County, CT run by one family. The pizza is of a greek style and is unique in CT as far as I have been able to see. The staff here is always friendly and happy, and get to know their regulars very quickly. All of the food is also of excellent quality and whether you go Italian or basic American everything is excellent.
Only downside is that the bathrooms tend to be about 10 degrees hotter than an already-warm restaurant, uncomfortable though clean.
Pros: Excellent pizza, Superior Value, Excellent Staff
Cons: Bathrooms overly warm

They have improved the quality of the salad bar at Shaw's. They now offer better looking and more varieties of lettuce, including baby spinach, spring mix and romaine. They usually have a better variety of salad dressings available now than they had in the past. They also make a pretty decent soup, and they offer three different varieties per day. My favorite is the chicken chili, be sure to check that out if you see it. The soups are quite expensive, but they are good quality, so to me that is worth it in a soup. The good thing about going to Shaws to pick up lunch is it is never very crowded, so you can get in and out of their fast.

Lias makes a wonderful thin style crust pizza. Although I prefer thicker crust such as the type on Sicilian pizza, I make on exception for Lias. The service was very quick and the workers are kind. Their prices are very good.

This place is great! The food is awesome, your always filled when finished eating, yet theres always enough for another meal, (you actually get what you pay for). Also, the prices are very reasonable. Best pizza also (they won an award for best pepperoni in Shelton) Great place to order take-out! They do deliver as well. I would recommend to anyone!
Pros: some of the best take-out food in Shelton.
Cons: the actual place is kinda small to eat at, but still doable.

Duchess on Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton is a really good meal for a really good price. The chili dogs and onion rings are my favorite but everything I have ever had is good. Parking can be an issue, especially when the lunch crowd starts to hit the drive thru but it is worth it!

This Brueggers is the best! The staff is always super-friendly and will go out of their way to get you what you need. Everything is always fresh and made just the way you want it.
Prices are slightly high for a bagel/sandwich/etc., but that's the chain's pricing, not this location's. I'd go here over Dunkin Donuts any day!
PROS: fresh bagels, awesome staff
CONS: slightly pricey
