On hot days, there is a line out the door at Screamin Mimi's in Sebastopol. Rather than looking at it in dismay and heading off to some franchise ice-cream shop, people continue to attach themselves to the end of this line, awaiting the sweet, sticky promise within.
"But is it worth it?", you may ask...I have to answer with an unequivocal "Yes".
A small local business, Screamin' Mimi's makes all their own ice-cream and sorbet by hand. If you haven't tried it, you can't understand, and should go try it right now, so you do.
The cold yummyness that they sell is so sweet and rich and gooey...so flavorful and unlike anything you could buy anywhere else...at least that I know of.
For their sorbets, they take fresh fruit and...I don't know...maybe some sugar...and mix them up. Nothing fancy, perhaps, but wait until you taste!
Their sorbets are, for the most part, fat free and come in such flavors as passion fruit, raspberry and chocolate.
The same can't be said for the ice cream, I'm afraid...but it's worth the extra calories for the divine taste...from their signature "Mimi's Mud" (a chocolate combination to die for) to something I believe they call "white tiger" (vanilla ice-cream, Grand Mariner, candied orange peal and a chocolate ribbon), all of their frozen goodies are worth trying at least once.
The shop itself is a visual treat as well, decorated by a local artist, and having regular showings of the work of photographers and painters from the area...and speaking of from the area, if you aren't, there is a map on the wall where you can stick a push-pin to show where you hail from.
They also have a monthly pet photo contest, voted upon by the customers...just bring in a pic of your pooch and pin it to the wall (in the designate area of course) and you might win store-wide recognition! I believe there might even be a prize involved.
So next time you drive by the quaint corner shop with a line down the block, go there anyway. You'll be glad you did.

They have very unusual flavors including lavendar flavor which I tasted. It tastes like lavendar flowers smell. I had an excellent chocolate and also apricot swirl which was awesome!

I was a little questionable about this place because it didn't look like it had table service, but it did. I had the best hamburger ever here! The roll was a handmade bread-type with really heavy and soft whole grain, and the beef was grass fed. I'm still salivating at the thought of eating it again! We also got a grilled cheese that came on whole grain bread that was so good! They also have some mediterranean options. The desserts were pretty bad, however. The cookie was tasteless and broke apart which made it hard to eat. They had a "chocolate beet cake" which just tasted like chocolate cake but had very little icing and wasn't worth the calories.
Go for the hamburgers!

I was visiting from out of town and a few friends of mine who live in sebastopol ordered one extra large Mediterranean pizza, with basil, onion, artichoke hearts, olives, tomatos, feta and garlic and it was amaaaazing!! I'm a chief in NY and to say that mouth-watering experience took me back to NY city. All the different flavors blended together perfectly was an explosion for my palate. They told me that I would be surprised, but I was blown away. Its hard to find good pizza places in California. Buddies is def. one of them and their prices are pretty reasonable. Give it a try, I highly recommend this place to anyone!

I love this place. Their apple pie and pies in general are all amazing. They also have a delicious deli sandwich menu. I really have a world class time every time i go to this place. Their staff is also very nice and helpful.

I love this place. Mr. Failing is an amazing character, he makes it fun to go get a sandwich, he is very entertaining. The smoked turkey on a wheat role is amazing. I have nothing but good things to say about this deli.

This restaurant is the best! It has a really neat, trendy atmosphere with brick walls and brick fired ovens and super high ceilings. I would say the food is New American, but because they are located so close to San Francisco, their seafood is spectacular. They have the best pan seared halibut that we have ever eaten! We highly recommend this restaurant!

Sushi Hana is a great little place to have dinner or lunch. Their service is always friendly and quick, even on their dollar nights when they can be very busy. My family has gone here regularly for years, and we always enjoy it.
The sushi is always very good, and they have rolls and combinations I haven't seen in other sushi restaurants. My favorite is the Bodega Sunset roll.
If you like sushi, this place is a must try!

Slice of Life Restaurant - Amazing Vegetarian
Their menu is dynamic, complete and one of a kind. They have it all, Italian, Mexican, American, gourmet, comfort food!
I love their spelt pizza with pesto and dairy cheese, the whole thing is only 4 big slices its $12. Also delicious, on their all day breakfast menu, are the tofu rancheros or one of the great daily specials, like raw enchiladas, which are the only pricey things but they are truly specials and are still an amazing value, notably so compared to other bay area vegan/vegetarian restaurants.
The service is really good and owner Dave is super nice and always taking time to talk with us. They have outdoor seating, so I always bring my dog. I truly appreciate this restaurant and its worth traveling to Sebastopol for such world class food and service. I highly recommend vegetarians and omnivores alike trying Slice of Life Restaurant.
