This movie had me perplexed. Birth stars Nicole Kidman as Anna, a widow who is about to get remarried. A 10 year old boy shows up claiming to be her dead husband reincarnated. At first Anna dismisses the boy's claims, but the boy tells her intimate details that only Sean would know. The movie confuses me, did the boy make this stuff up, was he really Sean? I think this movie is worth seeing, definitely one to talk about.

At first the movie seemed like it was going to be really great. As it went on, it just got confusing. The bathtub scene--hmm-I wouldn't say I was disgusted, but was slightly shocked. I don't understand whether or not he was reincarnated or if she was just crazy. I kept waiting for the movie to explain better, but it seems like it just kinda leaves you hanging. Not sure about this one.

I still don't understand this movie after all this time. Was he really reincarnated? If not then how did he know so much stuff? Did the real husband cheat on his wife? Did she finally remarry? I had no closure when it came to this movie and it irritates me. I just don't understand it. And the bathtub scene kind of disgusted me in a way. I know it's acting, but gross!

This haunting movie will leave you with this question long after you have finished watching the DVD. It's beautifully filmed and takes its time with the story, letting all the emotions seep in. Nicole Kidmann plays Anna, a woman whose husband collapsed and died one day while out running in the snow. Ten years pass, and Anna is ready to move on with her life and remarry. Then her dead husband shows up in the form of a 10 year old boy (Cameron Bright in an amazing performance) who seems to know all the old secrets of a marriage. Did he get the information from old letters that were buried in the park by his mistress (Ann Heche)? When he says to Anna near the end of the movie that he lied, is he talking about impersonating her husband or his affair with his mistress? Although all the hard evidence is designed to make you think it's a hoax, you are left with the feeling (like Anna) that this is real. A truly unusual, interesting movie.

OK, so I kept hearing how DARK and CREEPY and most importantly, how CONTROVERSIAL this movie was supposed to be. The bathtub scene. I didn't know how bad it would be, but of course, I had to find out.
The truth? Not very controversial. The story build very slowly to a climax that just ... sort ... of ... is not there? The end of the story disappointed me. I was hoping they would go in one direction and they toko the seemingly easy way out. The little boy does a good job of being one of those "creepy kids" that are in all of the movies nowadays. But this movie lacked any sort of excitement. In the end, I was bummed that I wasted my time.
