(Has some spoilers, but nothing major) This book follows young Harry into his 6th year at Hogwarts. O.W.L.S. have been taken, N.E.W.T.S. are on the horizon...Apparation classes look promising, and there's another year to look forward to at Hogwarts. Only, now things are different. There is a war going on, even though it is still new and hasn't touched everyone yet. Voldemort is back. He has Death Eaters all around and even the Dementors have joined the act. In this one, Harry suspects that Draco Malfoy, a Slytherin at Hogwarts, has become a Death Eater and is up to no good. There are also private lessons with Dumbledore; an adventure with Dumbledore; and Snape's sneaky and slimy as ever to Harry. On a lighter note, certain young people finally realize affections for each other. This book was really good but I was so bummed at the end and wanted to scream out "Why?!?!?!!!!" (no, lol..I won't say "why". Read it and see!) This is such an awesome series. (lol..one that an adult can enjoy right alongside their children)

I won't go into the background of the whole Harry Potter series because I can't possibly do it justice in a short review. Wikipedia has a great entry for Harry Potter and anyone wanting serious background should go there. I was much happier with Half-Blood prince than I was with Order of the Pheonix. Rowling seems to have returned to a structure that takes her audience less for granted and she seems to be ready to advance the series again. The book ends giving us high expectations for the last book in the series. I so hope she won't let us down! My only criticism of the book is that it serves so much as a teaser for book 7 and it doesn't stand alone as well as I would hope.

I have found evidence online that the seventh book will be coming out in July of 2007 (07.07.07), and the next movie (Order Of The Phoenix) will be out in June of 2007. The end of the book is a bit graphic and I'm afraid that because its a "children's" book that they will cut some of it out. (Like the bodies in the water) If they do, I'll just have to grit my teeth and bear it. I've been a fan of Harry Potter since it first came out. My friends were making fun of me then, and my husband makes fun of me now. I wish she would continue the series, but rumor has it she might kill off Harry. This book I think was the best she has done yet. I couldn't put it down even if I tried. I would read it at work and while I was cooking at home. I LOVE IT. I just think they should probably put more detail into the movies. Then again if they did...they'd be as long as the Lord of The Rings movies were. Read it if you can!!!!

I love all the Harry Potter Books, but this one was tied for the best of the series with Goblet of Fire for me. The end was so unexpected! I hated that Dumbledore died and what made it worse was that Snape had to be the one to do it! I was kind of expecting Peter Pettigrew's (Wormtail) new silver hand to do something in this book, but I guess we'll have to wait until the last book to see if it's anything special. From what I've heard, the last book is coming out sometime in July of 2007, another year to wait!

I read this book and it kept pulling me further and further into the story. After I finished it, I was like "I want more!" But then I remembered, "Nooooooooo, its the last one!" and almost cried. This book made me cry in it and I have a philosophy that is there is a sad part and it doesn't make me cry then, its no good. The Harry Potter books have not let me down for crying, that's for sure. lol I so recommend that you read it if you haven't because you are soooo missing out if you don't.

Harry Potter fans waited so patiently for this book to come out, and then I don't know about you, but after I read it, I was screaming " When will the next one be done JK?!?!?". Well written, and truly amazing. The books keep getting better and better. Although Harry is surrounded all around him by despair you really hope that everything will get settled in the end and Harry and his friends will be happy. But only one person knows, and she's not telling right now. We'll just have to wait and see. Great book!!!
