After noticing the very expensive prices on jeans ($175) and shirts near the front of the store, I headed to the back of the store, where I found a sale rack. I found some cute shirts, but the price tags still weren't worth it for the time I would be wearing maternity clothes. I felt that this store was for the very well off and rich. I only wish other maternity stores carried items just as cute.

Very nice clothing. Not really the kind of prices that make me want to shop there everyday though. The staff is always friendly and curteous, and I have never had any problems returning anything. Sometimes there can be a bit of a crowd in this store, so I try to avoid shopping on the weekends. Although the prices are not so great, the quality is far higher than you would find at certain other clothing stores.

Alhambra is my favorite boutique in Seattle. It is one of the only stores with a cohesive and well-chosen selection of formal and semi-formal dress, featuring Bianca Nero, Graham & Spencer, etc. I brought my mother to the store and found the styles to be accessible to her generation as well as mine. They have gorgeous light-weight cashmere sweaters, with a variety of necklines, and an interesting and varied selection of tops and pants. They also go outside of the box on the designers they carry, and I love their vintage fabric line (Burning Torch?). Huge fan of this store.
Pros: selection outside of the traditional boutique box
Cons: stringent return policy

The Alhambra discount warehouse is not listed on Judy's book for some reason, but just atop the University Village is this great little nook completely devoted to sales! The prices come down significantly from their main store on out of season items. The t-shirt collection, in my opinion, is a godsend. In the colder months you can always later cotton tanks and tees and in the summer, one of their sleeveless tanks will do great. What sells these tees for me are the colors- not just your regular gray, black, and blue as most Seattle-items stick to, but rather these very vivid colors that will definitely stand out in any wardrobe, despite being in design just a tee-shirt. Great quality materials ensure long-life for these shirts and the sale prices will have you walking out with more than one. Go in and see what you can find!

I love, love, love American Apparel. Not only do they have an admirable philosophy about the conditions and wages of their workers, but the founder is close to manic about making the best t-shirts possible. I've read articles. He is for real about making high quality, stylish, and well-fitted items of clothing. My favorite AA shirt is a baseball tee in green and turquoise. The colors have stayed true through several washings. It's shrunk a bit but has stayed nice and soft. A+!
