My husband and I stopped by the B&O for lunch last Sunday. I was super excited for the blackened salmon salad (which was nearly the only thing on the menu that appealed to me). I ordered my entrée only to be told that they only serve that after 4pm. What?? They were only serving "brunch" apparently. This left me feeling pissed off that I couldn't order what I wanted, and had to order breakfast instead. I would have left had my husband not been so excited to try the Jerk Chicken Sandwich on some awesome looking foccacia.
I wanted to love this place, but it bummed me out.

We couldn't tell you because ours never arrived. Went for brunch one Sunday morning. An hour after ordering the table next to us, who arrived half an hour after us, had their food and there was no sign of ours. Our waitress kept making excuses about why things were moving so slowly. Oh yeah, it also took 20 minutes to get a glass of orange juice and the Milky Way Latte just never showed up. And we would have complained to our waitress but she only came by to take our order and a couple other times to give excuses.

B&O is losing it's lease soon and will be gone from this location. Be sure not to miss this unique Seattle maverick in the art of coffee and dessert.

If you're looking for a late-night alternative to the bar next door, I'd head to B&O. There's something warm and intimate about it (the dimly lit rooms maybe?) that I love to catch up with friends here. There's also that dessert menu. Cheesecake, cheese plates, tiramisu, pies, chocolate cake, coffee cake, all of it a dream at B&O--except, as everyone likes to mention, for the price tags. I think tiramisu comes in around $7, but despite the cost, I still can't say no if the chance to go ever comes up. How can you turn down an establishment that specializes in dessert?

Here's my problem with B&O: they can't do anything simply. Like if you want French Toast, they only have this like vanilla-infused, almond-encrusted stuff. and their salads have walnuts and raspberry vinagarette. All my friends love it, but frankly I think it is overpriced and not that good. The desserts are actually very high quality, but very big and pricey, so plan on splitting them. I had a very nice tiramisu there.

I love the B&O. I go there for brunch on the weekends. The Milky Way latte (caramel mocha) is out of this world (ha ha ha). and the food is really good too. I got dessert for the first time last weekend. I had the profiteroles and even though I had just eaten a huge omelette, there was not a speck of chocolate left on my plate afterwards.
The downside of the B& O is that the service can be really bad. I know, I know, Capitol Hill waitresses may be the worst in the world, but c'mon. When I've been waiting 20 minutes for a refill on my coffee, ask for it, and am told "Yeah. When I get a minute." by a waitress who could not have more than one other table, I get a little bit cranky.
They're not all like that though, some of them are total sweethearts.

I have been going to the B&O since 1991. Back then it was a fun place to hang out with your friends since we weren't old enough for the bar. Now I enjoy it with my husband. Once we tried with a toddler, bad idea. Get a babysitter! They have a great hummus plate, steak tacos, the yummiest most sinful deserts and great coffee. Sometimes for dessert I get a White Chocolate Mocha - way better then any of the coffee chains!

The B & O has some of the best desserts in Seattle. Whether you like fruity or chocolatey, cake or pie, they've got something for you. Prices are a bit high, but comparable to other local dessert specialties. They're also open late for desserts, drinks and food. The menu is tasty if a bit overpriced. Good ambience for the quirky Capitol Hill area.
