I took my car to ballard electic on 49th. THis place is the best. They were very friendly, very honest and helpful. I took my cars to other places that gave me the run around about what was wrong with my car. Sears auto, actually told me that it was going to cost me $350 for a new alternator (i found alternators ofr $150 everywhere else) Ballard electric, took time out of there busy schedule to check my car and found the problem in 2 seconds, fixed it and sent me on my way. It was just a fuse and didn't even charge me.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I had to take my car here when it broke down and the mechanic was very helpful while being very reasonable when it came to the repair bill. He even said if I have further problems after I get the car home that he'll look at it again.

These guys do a good job, but they are expensive. What they do is not any different than the other places, which is why I don't want to pay more than the other places. They vacuum out your car, change your oil and check your fluids. Big deal. We paid about $89!! For $18 at Walmart you get the same thing, if you don't mind the wait. I'd rather spend a little time browsing and still have money to spend than get in and out and have no money left over.

My car overheated on the freeway. I have a mechanic I usually use but this was a simple fix a broken belt. I took it to the Richmond Beach Shell station and was told it would be done in a couple of hours. Called that afternoon and told it would not be done until Sunday. Fair I though it is a weekend. I inquired into the amount of the repair and was told a hundred dollars. That was in my budget so I agreed to the repair. When I went to pick the car up it came to 240.00. I had been forwarned that I should take it to a mechanic but I trusted a simple repair and that it would be repaired charging the repair stated. I did not pick up the vehicle instead wanted to talk to the manager who told me his employee did not know what he was talking about and the original amount was correct. If he didn't know what he was talking about why was the employee allowed to give a quote? The manager adjusted a portion but still charged 168.00. When I picked iup the vehicle an attendent asked if I felt taken advantage of. My response yes and I should have listened to the community members I spoke to who said do not service your vehicle here. I would add to that I will not patronize this gas station. Businesses need to stand behind their work and honor their word.

It's what you'd expect from any of these 'convenience' stores, nothing really that special about it.
Unfortunately, this place is worse as some of their "specials" are actually rip-offs. For instance, Camels are clearly marked (ie., large sign) $5.83 per pack if you buy two, but you are instead charged $12.94 rather then $11.66; it's a $1.28 rip-off (you know, theft). When I confronted this older man with glasses, he became defensive and got an attitude. "You got $1 off!" he says, insultingly. Like I'm the one who doesn't know what math is...
There was a line, so instead of causing a scene, I went outside to mull it over. After figuring the exact real cost from that falsely advertised amount, and being already frusterated with his poor excuse for service, I returned demanding a full refund.
"You already left the house." he replies, denying my request. Funny, I thought this was a store. Maybe the Health Department should be notified that people are living in this place. Gross.
But.. Seriously? I mean, really? At this point I knew getting my money back was an exercise in futilty and left the store. It's a lesson learned: Never take the $1 off when they're slipping $2 more under your nose. Nobody should tolerate thieves, doesn't matter what form it takes.
There's gas stations up the road going either direction. Even with no specials you'll still get a better deal on most items. Drive the extra 30 seconds and forget this place. 7-Eleven's are definitely not too big to fail and can live with a few less customers. Obviously, I'd prefer they did fail. Lots of better stores can fill that void.
Pros: Everything you need for a quick stop...
Cons: Some prices are higher then advertised.

1> Why does gas cost more at this station than anywhere else?
2> I was adding air to my tire when the attendant offered to help. He added so much air that he blew the tire. I was told that I had to go get another tire and bring it back for the station to replace (they did not have a tire to fit my car and did not feel they should have to get one - even though they blew my tire). I brought a tire later that day; the mechanic had gone home early, so there was no one who could change the rim for the new tire. I went back the next morning and they did it - then wanted to charge me $20 for changing the tire. I told the mechanic that they should do this for free since they blew the tire - his attitude was that he had not personally blown the tire so I should pay him to change it. I will not buy gas there again
Pros: last chance gas before going onto 520
Cons: prices higher than average; mechanic very unfriendly

Do not use this company. We called multiple companies looking for the best rates on heating oil and U Save seemed the best. We went with this company and a few weeks later recieved a phone call saying that we owed them additional money becuase we were not the home owners. When I claimed that hadn't been made clear the customer service person accused me of lying or not listening. I feel this company is preying on customers like me who took them to their word without a written contract.
