I like these guys because they're older guys who really don't need to be doing this any more but love cars and working on them. They always come in with realistic estimates and never BS you. Plus, they get the work done pronto. I give them the best rating of the local shops -- and I've used a lot of them in the last thirty years.
Pros: Experienced, good pricing, fast.
Cons: Located on 5th -- only one bus an hour

I'm telling you, I haven't had my car washed for, literally, months and I was a little ashamed. I had forgotten that my beautiful Lincoln Towncar had whitewall tires, and for only ten dollars my whitewalls were shining and my car was happy again. Brown Bear is the best in town.
PROS: GREAT WASHES AND SERVICE

I have been going to these guys for several years and can't say enough good about them. As a rule, I tend to be skeptical of mechanics, but these guys have proven over and over to be honest and straightforward. They also have the customer's best interests in mind and try to do the job with the minimum of labor invested to do the job right.

I just read this article at the Seattle Times: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003308417_wallet17.html
A woman had her wallet stolen from her -- 36 years ago. Brad Rinker, president of Northwest Metals & Salvage Service, retrieved the wallet (his workers found it) 3 years ago, and he looked for the owner since he had it. He finally found her, and she has some golden memories rightfully returned to her.
I haven't made use of their service, but honesty in your everyday dealings (business or not) earns my business. Please patronize the good guys when you get the opportunity.

I like this little convience store in West Seattle. It is a little different than the usual chains you see for mini marts. They are actually pretty big and have a little more selection than your usual corner store. It is a little old on the inside, but it isn't ugly or anything. Nice people usually.
PROS: Unique
CONS: older

In addition to the gas, which is usually a few cents cheaper if you pay with cash, the main reasons I go to this neighborhood gas station / convenience store are for the phone cards and most of all for a Canadian brand of beer (brewed in Calgary) which they sell for $6 per 6-pack of bottles which I have not been able to find elsewhere. Friendly owner, too.

If you are in the area, you will never be disappointed when you stop in here. Friendly Customer service, Fresh Coffee, and Hot Dogs always available and a really neat store.
I have never been disapointed as a Customer, and if you cannot find something, someone there is always willing to help you find it.
PROS: Friendly, Clean Store, Courteous, good eats
CONS: High price on Gas compared to a lot of other places

We've been using Rossoe Energy Services for the 18 years we've lived in our house. Called them originally because my parents had used them since the 1950s and they were one of the few companies I didn't hear my dad complaining about.
They have been quite helpful when we have needed to replace our heating system and we have used them on a contract basis for all the maintenance needs for both our furnace and our air cleaner (thus keeping the dust and fuzz to a manageable level).
They always show up on time and their service technicians seem friendly and knowledgeable. And more than once they have come to our rescue when called—solving whatever the problem was on the spot.
Since they're the only heating company I've used I can't make any comparisons. But based on experience, I would rate Rossoe a solid choice for your home HVAC needs.

I took my car to ballard electic on 49th. THis place is the best. They were very friendly, very honest and helpful. I took my cars to other places that gave me the run around about what was wrong with my car. Sears auto, actually told me that it was going to cost me $350 for a new alternator (i found alternators ofr $150 everywhere else) Ballard electric, took time out of there busy schedule to check my car and found the problem in 2 seconds, fixed it and sent me on my way. It was just a fuse and didn't even charge me.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND

More
Nearly every year our sewer backs up due to tree roots, and we have our plumber come to cut the roots back. When I found that our plumber was out of business, I saw the excellent reviews for Budget Sewer and gave them a call. Since I simply wanted the line cleared, and not replaced, they referred me to Aaron at Seattle Sewer Inspection. He quoted me the same price as the other lowest bids to cut back the roots. I wondered how much more it would be to run a camera through the line and locate the source of the problem. Aaron said that he primarily does camera inspections, and that the price for a camera inspection would be an additional amount at the same price charged for cutting roots, but that since he would already be there, he'd cut the price for the camera inspection in half. He was able to come out the same day.
Although our sewer pipe had apparently become offset and made it difficult for his equipment to push through, he persisted until the pipe was cleared and the problem area was located and marked in the yard (in case I decide to dig it up later.) And he patiently ran the camera back through the line again when I thought I had seen another spot where roots were entering.
Before he left, I asked whether he could snake out a bathroom sink that had been draining progressively slower. Although it was late in the day and he typically did sewer inspections and not plumbing, he ran a 25-foot snake through the pipe, pulled out a huge clog, and charged less than I had previously agreed to pay for that. (I can't guarantee that will be the case for everyone. But his company is new, and still building a client-base.)
Aaron knows his stuff, was very pleasant, and clearly explained what he was doing and why, and what all the options were. I feel secure in recommending him, and his rates are very competitive. Lastly, they've got a well-done website that clearly explains the work they do and what to expect.
