We fell in love with a friend's Dania couch and armchair and bought our living room furniture there. Their furniture is very stylish (much of it with clean, minimal lines and a European feel) and reasonably priced -- our leather sofa was ~$1500. It's also very comfortable. We probably visited the store six or eight times before deciding what to buy, and then came back a few days after ordering to change our order. Through it all, the staff were patient, helpful and friendly (and had a sense of humor!).
Be aware that some of the upholstered furniture is made to order and can take up to 3 months (!) to deliver.

Last night we went to see Rostropovich conduct the symphony, playing 20th century Russian greats, Shotakovich and Prokofiev. Rostropovich is also known as one of the world's greatest cellists (check out his recordings of the Bach cello concertos). His and the orchestra's performance last night was AMAZING - three standing ovations. His charm and enthusiasm were palpable, and the orchestra clearly enjoyed performing under his leadership. BRAVO!!!
Now, the SAM could take a lesson here, in that Seattle is a major metropolitan city that deserves to see and hear the greats. The Seattle Symphony give us these greats on a regular basis, all season long. The SAM, well, they do a lot of laurel resting. And, their laurels ain't that great.
So, residents of Seattle, support the arts and enjoy the greats. And, send letters to the ones that are slacking!

Dream Dinners in West Seattle allows me to go in once a month and cook meals for my family to freeze and then enjoy all month long. The menu changes each month. You select from fourteen entrees (I usually cook 12 entrees, split them in half again, and leave with 24 meals for my family of two adults and two young children). Ingredients are set out for you, along with each recipee and containers for freezing.
I've been hooked for the past six months, and can't imagine going without Dream Dinners.
I recommend going with friends so you can make it a night out afterwards. Consider getting a group together and donating a meal to a friend in need (new baby? family crisis?)
Leslie, the West Seattle owner, is happy to offer fund raising options for local groups....a great way to try it out with friends.

I’ve had good experiences with Coldwater Creek, both the store and the catalog. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the lines are never long. One thing I especially like them for is their holiday sweaters, but I’ve found various other clothing and jewelry items there that I’ve really liked. I’m tall (5’ 9”) and I appreciate the length of their standard jeans.
The cherry-on-top for this chain, however, is their return policy: no-questions-asked. If you don’t like something, for whatever reason, for however long you HAVE it, they’ll take it back! I haven’t tested that theory out by returning things years later, but I never get to the mall, making my returns VERY late. No one at the store ever even implies there could be a problem with that. Everyone leads busy lives and having to fit in a trip to the mall within a 30-day (or less) window to return items sometimes just doesn’t work out.

I am so pleased with Dr. Co and his staff! Every detail has been immaculately handled in the office setup and maintenance. The office staff is prompt, courteous, pleasant, and remember me when I call in. They are very stable (same people there every time), have always checked my benefits before I arrive, and are extremely organized. Dr. Co is approachable, remembers what's going on with my teeth (and my life!), doesn't mind that I'm a wimp, and doesn't hesitate to handle after hours emergencies.

This group of talented people are addressing a topic that is so painful and pervasive in our world today - yet most people don't even know how to talk about it.
Sexual violence. Rape. Sexual assault. These are not pleasant words to consider, but for millions of people they aren't just words. Burried pain, needless shame, and psychological trauma capable of crippling an entire life. Chances are good that you know someone, or of someone, who has been traumatized by sexual violence. While physical scars soon heal, it can take years and decades for innocent victims to recover and begin again to lead the healthy, positive life that they deserve.
They say you can judge the worthiness of an effort by how impossible their goals appear to be. For the FEAR Project, it involves changing our very culture from silenced fear to one of an open dialog that fosters a climate of trust and support. Now that's huge.
The work this amazing group has done so far is brilliant... and it has only just begun. If you are courageous as well, and enjoy working with great people on incredibly challenging issues, consider contacting the FEAR Project to learn what you can do.

I have had many different associations ever since I have bee in Seattle for the last 20 years. One of the longets running has been Mike Howard Insurance. Every-so often I do the due diligence and shop it around but if any are cheaper, read the fine print. It turned out not to be quite equal. And if it was, then service was an unknown. He has been a good, steady, honest agent for us and can recommend him highly.

This place is known for superior workmanship, friendly customer service, and reasonable pricing. They've done several jobs for me: living room pillows, dining room chair cushions, and custom upholstery in my breakfast nook. I strongly recommend them.
