There seems to be a resurgence of smaller grocery/convenience stores that aren't 7-11. Thank goodness. I first came to Phinney Market by way of the dachshunds that are there sometimes. So cute, I couldn't resist.
The owner was amazingly friendly and talkative. I like that. It's upscale, which matches the neighborhood, but if you NEED something more trashy, 7-11 is a few stores down.

Convenience shop, deli and restaurant 2x a week all in one stop! One plate Fri dinner ($12) and Sun brunch ($9.99 incl mimosa) rotate weekly. Meals are gourmet making the Phinney Market a regular stop for locals dining in or taking out. Personal favorite, very authentic homemade chicken liver pate.

this is the friendliest neighborhood grocery store in town! i go here all the time because the staff are great! they treat you like a friend, or family, make you feel welcome, go out of their way to answer your questions, and make you feel good about spending your money there, supporting their establishment. they have a little bit of everything, an espresso stand, and deli, and now they even do some delivery service for lunches! stop in and say hello, you wont be sorry!
