This is the original, Capitol Hill Top Pot - hidden in a residential neighborhood - difficult parking and all. The place has a wonderful ambiance with stacks of books and wood panels and all. Plus the old-fashioned donut is worth the fat and carbs! Coffee is good too.
Only thing: service is a wee bit chilly unless you are a very handsome construction worker, in which case the pierced gal behind the counter will be very nice!

More
I've been going to My Coffee House on and off for about a year now. The cafe still has the same great toys it always had, but there have been a few changes.
First, the staff was notably more kid-friendly the last time I stopped by. Before, they felt like bored teens in a cafe that just happened to have toys. Now the baristas
Second, the cafe was much more crowded - I'm glad this place is thriving and hope copy-cats spring up, but expect things to get a little hectic. It still doesn't match the mall playgrounds in mid-winter, though.
The rest is about the same - the food choices are great for kids, the bathrooms need toilets with lids to keep kids from sticking their hands in the toilet water, the toys are great but possibly dangerous for younger kids, the coffee is mediocre and only slightly better than Starbucks, and overall the place has some "rough edges". However, it tops my list for indoor places to hang out and relax while the kids have fun even though it takes an hour to get to for us.
On the other hand, I'm expecting more places like this to show up soon - this place is so crowded, there is obviously a market for this special family-friendly type of cafe. There is definitely still room to improve, and I am sure someone will improve.

One of the great things about Neelam is that when they cook vegetarian food, they use different cookware and utensils which I think is very gracious and not something that I require, but still, I found it to be a nice touch.
I have always enjoyed the food at Neelam's, but the atmosphere really leaves a lot to be desired. Neelam, on the other hand, has a sunny personality that brightens the place up.

This W Seattle B&J's is a great community gathering spot. Besides the ice cream, they just did free cone day (a big hit and we ran into lots of friends and neighbors) and do a weekly story-time on Tuesdays. Pre-school kids from 6:30-7 and school age from 7-7:30. Wear your PJ's and get a free topping. Just a nice place to enjoy the W Seattle friendly community.

This is not your typical sandwich! Vietnamese Sandwiches (Bon Mi) are chock-full of meat (grilled pork, chicken, ham, tofu, etc.) PLUS veggies (lightly pickled carrots and radish, cilantro, jalepeno). MMMMMMM - totally hits the spot!
They are served on toasted French 10in baguettes. The perfect sandwich and, guess what, they only cost $1.50 to $2.00!
This deli also has rice noodles with grilled meats and all the fixens (Bun) to go. AND salad rolls, egg rolls AND a hot buffet with plenty of meat, vegetables and tofu options with rice. There are tons of other options which I don't recognize and can't decipher - for the more adventurous. There is very little waiting, items are ordered by number and sandwiches are made to order.
There is no seating so get your $2.00 lunch and go sit in the sun and enjoy.

More
My husband's family lives in Portland, and when they come to visit they want two things: Dick's hamburgers and Pike Place Brewery Beer.
Dick's is the best. Greasy fries (REAL potatoes!), hot hamburgers and cold soda. If you ask for a substitution (hold the mayo, extra onion, etc.) you'll get laughed at. You get what you get, and if you want something extra, you pay for it and add it yourself.
Ketchup and onion are extra, 5 cents a piece.
The prices are low, the service is so-so, but the food is where it's at. I'd say the worst part about Dick's is waiting in line in the rain, as at every Dick's but the Queen Ann location you order from outdoor windows.

More
Dream Dinners in West Seattle allows me to go in once a month and cook meals for my family to freeze and then enjoy all month long. The menu changes each month. You select from fourteen entrees (I usually cook 12 entrees, split them in half again, and leave with 24 meals for my family of two adults and two young children). Ingredients are set out for you, along with each recipee and containers for freezing.
I've been hooked for the past six months, and can't imagine going without Dream Dinners.
I recommend going with friends so you can make it a night out afterwards. Consider getting a group together and donating a meal to a friend in need (new baby? family crisis?)
Leslie, the West Seattle owner, is happy to offer fund raising options for local groups....a great way to try it out with friends.

We became big fans of Buena Vista last summer because they have excellent mojitos that are perfect under one of the umbrella adorned tables on their big patio. There are about 10 round tables outside and i've seen them set up long tables for bigger groups. inside they have more seating and salsa dancing with live music. I think the food is quite good and you can get it to go in case you want to dock your boat and have a floating picnic.,
