I love this store. It's a one-stop spot for getting any travel book you need. Their selection extends far beyond guidebooks, offering travel literature, essays...if they don't have what you want, they'll order it. If you're not sure which guide is right for you, the store staff really know their stuff and can help you decide. In addition, they are all well-traveled and can guide you toward other resources if you ask.

We have frequent flier miles with Alaska. And what is so great about that you never lose your miles. Since my husband and I fly occasionally to visit family it takes us awhile to build up enough miles to turn in for a free flight. Also, they have other airlines that we can book on and still get miles for Alaska's Frequent Flier Plan. Recently my husband flew on American Airlines for business and got miles for his frequent flier plan. This was an added bonus to the business trip!
We have always had excellent service, easy ticket purchasing, choices of seating, reliable & on-time flights ( in fact we have arrived early on several of our flights), easy check-in, nice flight attendants on all of our flights with Alaska Airlines.
I just wish they flew to Denver where my brother lives. That may come in the future since they did set up a flight to Denver from Seattle, so now I need to wait for Southern California to Denver. But we have no problem getting to northern Oregon where my daughter lives and most of our flights are to that destination.
The price of the tickets are comparable to the Southwest Airlines ticket prices and I don't have to stop in San Jose or Oakland - I can go non-stop. So for a few dollars more I fly Alaska Airlines to get the non-stop flight. It is seldom that you can get a Southwest Airline Ticket that doesn't involve some kind of stop or stops and you end up adding hours to your traveling time. I don't want to spend all day in a plane and airport - I want to get to my destination so I can enjoy the people I came to visit. My husband just went on a business trip to Albuquerque, N.M. and had to fly through Phoenix to get there. It tried real hard to get an American flight but since it was last minute there were not very many flights available for the next day. Then he could have received more flight miles for Alaska. http://www.alaskaairlines.com

For people who are looking to go on a great, and quick getaway, I'd like to recommend taking the high-speed catamaran operated by Victoria Clipper. They leave form downtown Seattle and go into downtown Victoria, B.C., in about two hours. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient, and, they take care of all vacation plans for you - from hotels to city tours, to afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel. They give you good deals (even compared to on line vendors), especially if you travel in the middle of the week. And you don't even need a passport to go. Anyways, it is a great way to get out of town for a couple of days for relatively little money and hassle.

I work here taking pictures of the people that go on the ride. I love ALL the captains, there a bunch of fun and really love what they do. The office/ticket booth people are really great as well! It really is a fun ride to go on even if you live here! The ride is 90 minutes and costs about $25 per person. It goes ALL over Seattle! If you do go try and pre buy the tickets because there usually sold out for the whole day by like 4 and GET THERE A HALF HOUR EARLY!!!!!! The seating is first come first serve and if you go with a group of 3+ and are the last to arrive chances are you won't get to sit together. They try and make it soooo clear to people but there is always the rude group that get there 5 min. after they loaded the duck and complain to everyone that they can't sit together. It really is a great tour though and if you do go make sure to sit in the middle because the back can be a little bumpy and the front although its the warmest part, you can miss stuff a little easier because it does go by kind of fast sometimes. This has been voted one of the things you MUST do in Seattle!

I had read several reviews online about the Sixth Avenue Inn and was a little worried when I made my reservation. When I arrived I was greated by the sweetest lady at the Front Desk, she helped me plan my activities and transportation. I stayed there for three nights and she greeted me everytime I walked in the hotel and remembered where I had gone and even asked about it! The same was true in the restaurant and bar. The bartendars aer funny and a little rough, but it works here. The location was great, walking distance to everything. The rooms are basic but they just got new beds so I slept really well. The girl at the desk said they were going to renovate this year. I am still preplexed as to why this hotel got such bad reviews. I think it is one of those situations where people who write bad reviews expect Westin quality for under $100.00, in other words they are dreaming! I will stay here again when I come to Seattle. Love this little Inn.
Pros: Service was terrific
Cons: Furniture is a little dated, but they say they are updating soon

My husband and I booked this room for our wedding night, and we had asked to go in and look at the room, prior to staying there, well they offered us cookies while we were in the Lobby, they were extremly polite. We then went to look at the room, which was HUGE, and it was amazing. I have never staying in a hotel room that big. It was first class all the way. It almost seemed that they knew what we needed after a long wedding day, rest and romance, and relaxation. It was fabulous! They were so polite and did everything the asked happily!

This hotel puts you less than half a mile from the world famous Seattle Center. You are close to lots of shopping, bars, and neighborhood restaurants. It's a bit of a hike to downtown Seattle or the waterfront, but you can always take a bus or taxi. The free breakfast (6 a.m. to 10 a.m.) was the best free meal I've ever had at a hotel. Parking is free, but space is limited. There's little free parking anywhere around the Seattle Center.
PROS: Great location, good free breakfast

This hotel is the best! They are very clean, affordable, and near the SEA/TAC Airport. What's great is, it is very near a city bus stop that will take you down town Seattle, and to the airport and other areas. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and will guide you to the right places. The continental breakfast makes it very easy to access. The rooms are clean, quiet, and very comfortable. All in all, this hotel is good. Good location, wonderful restaurants around, and not to far from shopping.

I was a bit hesitant to leave my car here, but had no other arrangements. I had to leave my keys with the front desk of the motel, and was a bit leary, but needed to catch a flight. We were shuttled over to the airport right away, and also picked up within 10 minutes of calling when we arrived back in Seattle a few days later. We arrived at the motel to find the car cleaned off of snow and waiting for us under a covered spot, ready to drive away! I believe I only paid $6 a day to park. Wonderful!
