There are plenty of reasonably priced hotels (lodges, motels) near Westwood. You might also look in Brentwood (take Sunset Blvd. to Westwood) or Santa Monica (take Wilshire Blvd. to Westwood) or Century City (take Little Santa Monica Blvd. to Westwood). Many hotels offer pacakges that include tickets to The Getty Museum, for example.
If you are a member of AAA Washington, they would be a great resource. If you are not a member, I would consider it. I have carried a AAA membership card longer than I have carried my social security card. For reasons that I cannot begin to explain my dad signed me up on his AAA membership the year after I was born!
I always check with them if I have a hard-to-solve travel problem. AAA can not only help you find the budget motel of your dreams, AAA reps have screened hundreds of properties (some of which you might be interested) for cleanliness and safety (among other criteria) and negotiated discounts for members. Additionally AAA members can request maps of the area, Trip Tiks (a specially created map of particular routes) and coupon books FOR FREE.
And that is just the travel service. AAA is my first phone call for dead car batteries, flat tires and keys that are locked in my car.

My car is still under warranty, it broke down in front of my house. SAAB called this tow company to make arrangements to have my car picked up, initially they said it would be ab hour and a half. When they didn't show up, I called them and they said 40 more minutes. I was fine with that, then I had to call again and they said to put the key in the car and they would pick it up overnight and get it to the dealer first thing in the morning. It is 3 PM the next day and my car is still not at the dealership. this whole process started 24 hours ago. Go elsewhere.

The first time I called he was honest about not being available. On a second occasion he was very helpful, agreeing to pay a small repair bill provided that I could repay him in cash, saving me a trip to the unsuccessful repair shop.

I've been going here for over 5 years and Kevin at the front desk has done some amazing things for me. He's taken a dead car when they were full and taken care of it. We had a trouble car for a while and he just said bring it on in. We towed a car to his place and he took care of it. They've always done good service and gone way above just good service. They are AAA rated and have always delivered!

Called them for a tow from marysville to seattle and they quoted me $140. When they put the car on the flatbed, they scraped rear bumper and gas tank. Then getting the car off, they repeated this. The driver was rude and I asked about what I could do about the damaged car, and he said call safetow. The next day I called and a rude lady with broken english said NO we can't do anything about it, and hung up. I called her again and she said STOP CALLING! and hung up. Very rude, very bad experience. BEWARE.
