Amazing Thai certainly deserves that name.
My husband and I had the duck curry and the phad woon sen, a dish I order at every Thai restaurant in search of the best. These two dishes were the best I have had in Seattle. I can't begin to explain how much we enjoyed the food. It's a must try.
Until a couple of weeks ago Capital Hill's Rom Mai was my favorite, but Amazing Thai has won first place.
The owners are beyond hospitable and generous with their smiles.
Pros: food and service
Cons: no beer or wine

Alloy mak thii sut lerie na khrap! (It's the so very good!) I used to live in Thailand, and so I think I have a good basis to judge Thai food. The ambience is great, food is authentic and well prepared, and the wait staff is friendly and (gasp!) totally Thai! Be prepared for the accents, but, heck, Pad Thai isn't Pad Thai if you don't have to ask 4 times before they understand your English.. ;)
Pros: Great Staff, Authentic Food, Great Location
Cons: A little pricey, A little slow

Very good food is the first comment I want to make. I did find a dish or two being a little too sugary but no complaints on that. Most Thai places have food that smells of fish sauce and as a vegetarian it used to make me nauseous. No such thing here at Araya and I can enjoy the awesome Thai curries without any such thing to hold me back. Their fake meat is also very delicious. The service was excellent and food arrived in a short time. I expect to be regular at this place and I will take any visitors to this place.
Pros: Totally veg, Vegan options,
Cons: Little cramped, a little too sugary

OK, I admit it, we have a little ritual here, after each of our three children, I'd sneak out and get a Thai dinner for Connie and me from this place.
It is a hole in the wall and never crowded, but I just love their yellow curry. Also, their basil is just great.
Not expensive and tastes great. Parking is surprisingly easy on East Pike too.

I've been going to this restaurant for about 20 years. It's always the same. I've gotten SEVERAL friends hooked on it as well.
I brought a Louisiana friend here a few months ago who was visiting Seattle. He "hates" Thai curry. I pushed him to try "Special Thai Chicken" at this place. It has both yellow and green curries along with coconut milk, bell pepper and other stuff. He embarrassed the table with how loudly he was moaning about how good it was. We all laughed at him, and he still talks about that dish all the time.
The chicken satay is the best I've had. (Though it was a tad better when they used to serve with with little triangles of toast.)
The "Coconut Chicken" is also to die for! Wonderful flavors.
Although I no longer live in the Seattle area, I go back frequently and ALWAYS go to this place at least twice a week when there. :) Yum yum yum!
Pros: Oh. My. Gawd. Amazing!
Cons: Parking is not great.

We hang on Monday nights for the happy hour. The service is great. We have been in twice in the last month and Geoffrey remembered our favorite foods and drinks. The service is good, the food is wonderful and I like the lighting and fireplace. A great date night.
Pros: happy hour all night on Mondays
Cons: street parking

For those who don't know, this restaurant started as the house restaurant for the Thai Airways crews, then moved to Pac Hwy So in a converted drive in. They are now at Southcenter with lots of parking for the true believers of authentic Thai cuisine. While there may be more regions of Thailand that are reflected in other restaurants, those in the know trust this restaurant. Their Gai Hor Bai Tuey is to die for and their curries are fabulous. Very accessible cuisine and carefully attentive to their customers.
Pros: Authentic Thai cuisine
Cons: none

The people are real nice and service if perfect. I like the food my wife was not really sold but next time we go we will try something else.
We hope they do well and keep being a good asset to the neighborhood.
Pros: Good quality food
Cons: No drawback for my wife and I
