I thought i'd give these guys a try as their reviews & website looked pretty impressive.
I'm on bedrest with a newborn so I order take-out for my fiance to pick up for us. I put my order together off their on-line menu figuring it's out there as a means to order take-out. But, when I called it in, they wouldn't even take my order, saying they were too busy. So, I went to Azuma down the street--again--where they happily took my order with a short wait of only 20 minutes. Last time I stray.
Cons: no take-out?

The sushi might be good but we could never get past the waitstaff's terrible attitude.
They try overly hard to be cutesy and hip and fall flat on their face.
Never again.
Cons: Rude Service

I went here for the first time this past weekend as a change of pace from my regular sushi place, and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. My eyes lit up as I ate the Albacore Nigiri, which is the best I've had anywhere in Seattle. We tried a few other pieces of nigiri and ordered two rolls, all of which were delicious. The sake menu was impressive as well, with an entire page devoted to sake! There were easily over 20 different types of sake to try.
I will definitely be adding this place to my list of sushi joints.
Pros: Variety of Rolls, Long Sake Menu, Friendly Servers

We're always looking for great sushi restaurants and look forward to new experiences. This was our first visit to Mashito and the overall experience was disappointing. However, the initial service was excellent! The restaurant was full but we were seated right away to the sushi bar. The ambience was so obnoxiously loud and the food wasn't that great. I wasn't able to finish the seared tuna wisabi salad since it was coated with lots of mayo! Overall, we're very pleased with the person(s) who seated us and gave us the drinks but our chef didn't give us the service we expected . Sorry to say we won't be returning nor recommend to friends and family.
Pros: Hostess
Cons: Service

I am a big Japanese foodie, and after living in Japan for 4 years, had been looking long and hard for a place that could come close to the amazing izakayas near my old house...and nothing had met my hopes/expectations....until I found Mashiko.
The food at Mashiko is just as good if not better than the best restaurants I used to frequent in Kobe and Tokyo. Sitting at the counter and letting Hajime decide what I'll eat omakase style is always exciting, refreshing, and always fantastic in both taste and presentation. I've had some great meals in NYC, LA, and other big cities in the states, but nothing can touch Mashiko. From the amazing agemochi to the kibinago and mozuku, Mashiko has Japanese izakaya style and solid sushi nailed.
I've been at least 6 times at the counter, and every time it's been a wonderful experience.
So shut up, try something new, and eat whatever Hajime puts in front of you, you won't regret it!
Pros: Everything - sushi, agedashi tofu, sake menu
Cons: You may have a long wait on weekends

The whole "Shut Up and Eat" thing would make sense if the food tasted good. But, it doesn't. At all. No joke, I've had better sushi at Sushi Land for $1.50 a roll. Everyone could agree that even the best restaurants slip once in a while. Not every table is going to have the perfect experience every time. I totally get that. That's why, after a terrible dining experience, I sent some feedback to the management via email (as is solicited on their website) asking them to give me a reason to try Mashiko again. After 3 weeks with no response, I guess they can't come up with one.
Due to character limitations, the pertinent parts of my email to Mashiko follows:
"I am emailing to offer feedback... We were really excited to dine at your establishment... The restaurant was coming down from a rush, service was slow...understandable...but the slow service continued throughout the meal...We ordered Seared Tuna Salad...Spicy Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll and Charlie's Angel Roll.
My water had a long hair draped over it...didn't complain...removed the hair and shared my partner's water with him instead. Unfortunately, experience never got better...salad took a long time to arrive...lacked flavor and the greens were super bitter...just ate the tuna and tomatoes...left the greens on the plate. The Charlie's Angel Roll came out next...presentation beautiful...taste-wise uneventful. Other rolls looked like afterthoughts, no presentation quality and taste was surprisingly lacking, even in the Spicy Tuna Roll, which one would expect to have a little extra zest.
Our bill came out to $49.28 and after an $8.00 tip our total was $57.28...I found myself feeling a little cheated about having spent that much on a meal that was not good...left feeling kind of bummed out. We live in West Seattle and love supporting the local economy...Can you give us a reason to try Mashiko again?"
P.S. I'll remove comment if mgmt ever gets back to me, if it's still here, you'll know they don't care.
Pros: Server was sweet, although slow.
Cons: Food had no flavor.

I don't want to start this review as the bitter guy that hates change because, I'm not really that guy. I'm just a guy that loved popping in on every Thursday night for the best sushi around. As far as the quality of the food and preparation, I give it 5 stars. Now that my wife and I have to make reservations on random nights because of kowtowing of those who read these reviews....zero stars! But it's not just that, I don't have the flexibility to make reservations, even on a Thursday and after several more-than-an-hour-waits, I give up. I now get my fix up the street or go to Chinatown which is counter to my eat local ideals. My only wish is this... even though you may drive 30 miles to get here (as the last couple in front of me complained), you need to wait like everyone else. No reservations Mashiko!!!
If you are there... Chirashi bowl! No better way to eat fresh fish, leave it up to the Chef for freshest fish and it's always different and exciting. Run into the reservation problem? Try Azuma or Chinatown-Fuji Sushi or Ichiban Sushi or do what I did after being shut down at Mashiko for the third time... try writing a review :)

This was my first time here and the food is absolutely delicious. I have never been to a sushi joint more creative than this place. If you are into the same old boring traditional style then keep your mouth shut and go to those places. Don't trash talk on an amazing restaurant. I highly recommend the Cheesy Alligator, the Snowflake Roll, and the chef's choice (believe me I don't trust people and I took a chance and I was thoroughly impressed. They are a little slow on service but for cryin out loud there are 2 artful chef's to what 20 people? Come on people quit your complaining!
Pros: SUSHI!!, Bidet on the toilet! Great servers.
Cons: Very tiny restaurant, uncomfortable chairs

I've recently been to Mashiko twice, and my boyfriend and I have had nothing but fabulous sushi and very pleasant and knowledgable service. it's true that you might wait to get a table; it's also true you might wait a bit for your server, but we agree the wait is more than worth it. the menu is expansive and interesting. we eat tons of sushi and think Mashiko is serving up some of the best in Seattle. chill out people! relax. eat. enjoy.
Pros: great sushi
Cons: crowded, long waits, slighly slow service
