Not sure there are complaints for this restaurant. At a recent happy hour (09-30-05) my guest and I received excellent service and were completely full for under $50 total - a hard challenge at many downtown sushi bars. Was this the "best sushi ever"? Perhaps not, but I would classify it as very good and well above the middle. They offer a number of tempura rolls which are awesome. If you are in the drinking mood, do not pass up their Leichi Martini - A fantastic drink!!
Pros: Food, Drinks, Happy Hour
Cons: Parking

Based on one lunch experience: The sushi rice is terribly salty and doesn't have enough rice vinegar in it, so has no sweet/sour zing. The fish varies between barely-fresh and mediocre, all thin, limp pieces. Most of the rolls are just a variation off of a california roll. All sushi combos come with a california roll, no substitutions allowed. (I like cali rolls okay, but PLEASE!) It's so American it's sad. The service was cooler-than-thou, food came randomly and no one ever asked if it was okay. Some of our food never came. The restaurant is noisy. What a disappointment.
Pros: outdoor seating
Cons: Overpriced, Bad food, Bad service

We have visited the restaurant for three times. All three times, the service has been slow. But all three times, food has been great. Prices are really adequate, and the ambient and service are very nice.
Overall tasted plates: Sushi, Cal. rolls, Tempura, House salad, Miso soup, pricked chicken and beef with sweet sauce and rice, and sawaGAni (small fried crunchy river crabs).
The best: sawagani. Really good.
The worst: tempura (although not bad, it is a bit "heavy")
Sushi is quite good.

This is a very new sushi restaurant on 1st and Spring. It's a descent size restaurant with inside and outside seatings. The decor is modern and trendy. Owner Jesmine will greet you and even take your orders. The sushi is fresh and fairly generous portion. My only complaint is their lunch can be slow even when it's not really busy. Maybe it's because it's so new. Anyway, one time it took me more than one hour to finish while there were only about five to six tables.

I eat a lot of Sushi (almost once a week) and I found Nijo to equal some of the best sushi that I've had. I usually eat only Nigiri so that is what I compare. Service was excellent though no free miso nor edamame with the sushi dinner. Also there was no traditional "sushi menu", I had to order all of my nigiri through the waiter which was fine.
The preparation and quality of the fish was excellent. No stringy muscle/skin or any other parts were found. Fish was fresh and great tasting and the rice was packed well.
Lastly, scenery was trendy and nice with a projector showing the Animatrix on the wall for my viewing pleasure :) .
I would recommend Nijo to any traveller visiting Seattle.
Pros: nigiri is good, nice atmosphere

Nijo is the right place to get your after-work sushi fix. If you buy a drink ($3 or $4), you get unlimited $2.95 maki, $2.95 entrees, and amazing $1 appetizers. We recommend the vegetable tempura and the edomame ($3.95 for both!). Even if you don't drink (we don't), get a drink anyway, since it still is cheaper than the ordinary menu. Their other prices are decent, but the happy hour specials are the way to go.
Pros: Happy hour specials, Veggie Tempura, Great Atmosphere
Cons: "Fishy" Cali rolls, Distracted servers

The highlight of my frequent trips from Portland to Seattle is visiting Nijo. This is a great little spot with outstanding sushi. The quality is excellent, prices fair (happy hour is inexpensive) and the atmosphere is great as well. I have heard it gets very busy, but have yet to see it. They have an evening DJ and I went back after lunch to check it out. Not much of a crowd, but that is ok, I was there to enjoy the food. Nice little lounge feel to it with movies playing on the wall and good tunes being spun to compliment the eats. Hope they keep the lounge feel.
Pros: Quality Sushi, Ambience, Friendly staff
Cons: Hidden location

I was starving. It was 5:30. The sun was shining is Seattle. I was ready to feast on Sushi. We walked down the block from W Hotel. The restaurant was ok - a litle tired feeling. The service was slow. The sushi was average. We ate a lot. We stumbled back to the hotel to watch the Spurs beat the Pistons in Game 7. The sushi sat in our stomachs. Uninspiring gorgefest.
