This place is the place to have lunch in downtown.
Salmon Friday is a day to look forward to on a weekly basis. The daily specials are good, the turkey sandwich are always good.
The owner can be a pain... but you either love him or not
However good food beats the attitude!
Pros: Great price, huge serving
Cons: Long lines, cash only

I'm sorry the diner listed below had such a bad experience. Looking at the date mentioned, I realized Seattle was in the midst of a "heat wave" which wouldn't seem hot to someone from outside the area. When the temps there are in the low 90's, unairconditioned spaces can seem unbearable. The Crumpet Shop has, and usually needs little or no air conditioning. It is tiny and the bakers work in a glassed area that holds the heat from the ovens so on a normal day it would be quite warm for them.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. The crumpets are really wonderful and I'm sure if you went back on a more normal day, you would find the atmosphere exactly as others have described. I have always looked forward to lunch there instead of inside the noisy market when I visit.

This is a comfortable bar/restaurant that serves breakfast all day. Since I am a big fan of breakfast and I usually can't make it to a restaurant before 3pm on weekends, this was a treasure for me. The breakfast is just fine. Unlike the other reviewer I thought the service was good. You can't expect white-tablecloth service at a diner, but our waiters have been friendly and attentive. I like the interior design. The bloody Mary's were ok.
Pros: breakfast all day, good prices, nice interior

While it is true that Three Girls gets many of their breads from other bakeries around Seattle; they do bake their own pastries and cookies at their Ballard location, which are then delivered to Pike Place daily.

OK. For those of you who only gave 1 star, get a life. Showed up one night they happened to close and was mad because they closed at 6. Really. Get a life. Another seems to not like sandwiches and soup. Hmmm...don't go then, but worth a 1 star rating? Campbell's soup...no way. Seems like the people rating 1 star have the self hyping problem.
This restaurant is a cozy little hole in the wall, clean, and great for families and friends. I don't know the owners and have never been here. Glad I found it! A new home away from home for me. Take the kids and get a simple meal. Warms the heart. Oh yeah! Parking is not a problem unless you have a car that won't fit in the underground garage. It does seem to be a love/hate relationship. Thank God we live in a country where you can make your own decisions and even leave comments like some of you.
Pros: Power outlets everywhere, free WiFi, good service, kid friendly
Cons: OMG had to bus my own table lol

Color me surpised to see even one mixed review of EATS Market Cafe! This place is a lovely little gem tucked very surprisingly into Westwood Village Shopping Center in West Seattle. That alone gives them points for bravery in my book. I've been eating here since they opened and the owners, Evan and Toby, have never been less than warm and friendly to me no matter how busy the place is.. and so have the people they've hired. The matzoh in the chicken (with REAL chicken stock) soup wants to fly right out of the bowl it's so light.. and Bubba's Bolognese is to die for. Ditto those gooey waist-bustin' Reubens, which are hands down the best I've ever eaten (including NYC's!).
I also disagree with those complaining about the service. Have we gotten so spoiled as a nation that we need to be fawned over the second we enter an establishment or we think we're being treated rudely? Sometimes the wait staff is bustlin' around BUSY. To me, that's a GOOD sign in a restaurant; it means the food is wonderful, and worth snagging a table. If the staff is attending to others, *I wait politely for their attention*. Patience. It's a virtue. (Look it up if you don't believe me. ;-) This "notice me immediately or I'll post a bad review" crowd would do well to avoid popular restaurants, imho.
And, oh, the pastries! Real honest-to-God red velvet cupcakes like your grandmother made with soft, buttery frosting, incredible eclaires, melt-in-your-mouth pies, and home-made, real-cream-creamy ice creams. 'Nuff said. I think this place is wonderful, and I've always been made to feel like family when I eat there. The food is delicious and comforting, the prices are reasonable, and they've done almost as much as humanly possible to warm up a dauntingly generic restaurant setting. I hope they never get so popular that they move to a bigger space farther away from my house (which, I fear, is almost inevitable because they're often so busy... and deservedly so).
Pros: Well prepared and creative-yet-comforting food
Cons: Probably the location, if anything, but it's worth the drive to West Seattle

If your vegan, you'll love this place. They have good vegan pizza and great seitan vegan sandwiches. With every bite you will thank yourself for discovering such a tasty and healthy place to eat. They make a great vegan smoothie also. I felt like royalty when I had one with mint in it. Yum

Fresh as fresh can be. You're REAL lucky if the owner makes your grinder or what have you. Superb wine and beer selection. They have cool live bands some nights. Great smoochy date location (yeah... get food on your face its fun) Nice tables and atmosphere in the corner for groups of friends.
Pros: You'll count the days until you eat there again
Cons: well, you can't just pop in when you've a hankerin'

Great neighborhood, family-oreinted pub. Amazing how they cater to the families in the neighborhood. Kids menu (with appropriate portions and prices), tons of board games and a small couch in one corner with toys for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Food is quite reasonable and there is always a creative and delicious special if you want to step up from the pub menu. Diner style kitchen and multiple flat screens with HD. It's an affordable weekly experience for our family of four.
Pros: Beer and Wine list
Cons: none for what it is offering
