I purchased a pair of shoes yesterday, and as long as I walked very slowly in them, they were fine. As soon as I tried to walk quickly, I discovered that I walk right out of them.
I only wore them for about 2 blocks, and can see no damage to them at all. I tried to return them today, and was given an absolute no.
If the store is going to have an ironclad "no return" policy, then they need to tell you that up front. They should post it, and have their sales people tell every customer before they wear them.
I was told there was a "30 day guarantee" yesterday. I found out today that this only covers "defective shoes"...
When I spend $200 for a pair of shoes, they better be perfect, fit me perfect, and wear perfect. That is a great deal of money for me - and now I have a $200 paperweight.
I had two other pair of shoes I planned to buy, but now, if the owner (who I am waiting to speak to) doesn't at least give me a store credit, I am absolutely going to bounce off the ceiling.
grrrrrrr.
Pros: Nice Shoes
Cons: Terrible Service

I recently bought a pair of boots here. I wore them literally outside the door of the shop when I realized they were too big. I walked back inside and the saleswoman became harsh and unpleasant. She stated they had a strict "no return policy" for shoes worn outside. It was obvious there was no wear to these shoes, the white sticker on the bottom was not even dirty. The owner was consulted, and they remained steadfast that they would not exchange these boots for a smaller size. It's unfortunate that they were so inflexible, as I am (was) a regular at this store. The saleswoman was unkind and made me feel like I was wasting her time. As a local and a regular, I would have expected more. I will not be purchasing shoes from them again.
Pros: Comfortable Shoes
Cons: Unplesant staff, ridiculous policies

This used to be my favorite shoe store in Seattle -- has the kind of comfortable, high-quality and good-looking shoes I like. But after two recent unpleasant experiences there with their staff, I won't go again.
A few months ago while I was trying on shoes there, one of the salespeople was screaming on the phone to someone -- sounded like someone at the other Romax store. After she hung up, she continued to loudly rant and rave about whatever the issue was until I couldn't stand it anymore and left the store. I liked the shoes I was trying on, so bought them elsewhere.
Then a few days ago, when I tried the store again, a sales woman was making fun of someone who apparently hangs out in Westlake Plaza a lot exhibiting unusual behavior -- sounded like mental illness to me -- and the sales person was ridiculing her. I left the store and won't be going back.
Pros: carry good shoe brands, good location
Cons: very unprofessional sales people -- very unpleasant shopping experience

I purchased a pair of Keen shoes at Romax in downtown Seattle. After a few weeks one of the shoes developed a very loud squeek that would only got louder after another week of trying to wear it out. I returned to the store hoping to exchange the shoes. I was told that I would have to deal directly with Keen. I ended up going to both Romax stores and was told essentially the same thing. Romax did nothing to help me with the defective shoes I purchased.
I was even willing to purchase another pair of Keen shoes and have Romax send my problem pair back for me to be replaced at a later date and they were unwilling to do even that without talking to a manager.
Absolutely horrible service. I will not be doing business there again.
Pros: Interesting brands
Cons: No product support after purchase

My girlfriend wanted a really nice, comfortable pair of shoes that she could wear casually and dressy. She pointed a pair out as we passed by the Romax store so I surprised her. Unfortunately, the shoes broke the second day. She returned them and was given another pair without delay. The second pair broke too. Apparently, they were having a problem with this particular shoe having a soft spot.
Romax was wonderful. The let her pick out a different pair and were really nice about. The shoes are Dansko and she loves them.
